POSITION: Graduate Assistant for Residence Life
REPORT TO: Director of Residence Life
NORMAL WORK AREA: Campus Life Suite
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
BA or BS degree required.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Student Leadership experience preferred.
Unconditional acceptance into a Southeastern University graduate program preferably pursuing a degree in Student Personnel, Education, Theology or a related field.
Note: Graduate Assistants may take a maximum of 12 credit hours during Fall and Spring Semesters. Special permission must be granted by the Director of Residence Life to take additional hours.
Ability to develop, update and implement statistics, procedures, and programs.
Demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills, i.e. general human relations and sensitivity to others.
Demonstrate problem solving and critical thinking skills
TRAINING TIME
1-3 months to perform all job-related duties with supervision.
This includes but not limited to, understanding the student handbook, staff handbook, and bylaws concerning student affairs at SEU.
DUTIES AND OTHER JOB RELATED ACTIVITIES
Maintain and support the policies and procedures approved by the Board of Trustees, Leadership Team, and the Campus Life Office
Hold regular office hours.
Assist the Director of Residence Life in execution of tasks and departmental projects
Manage all Reslife Accounts: Passwords/ Usernames, emails, social media, adobe sign
Oversee SEU Campus Life Instagram
Submit and Manage the Events Board for all Reslife Events
Assist Resident Directors in Community Standards & Responsibility procedures
Exhibit discretion related to safeguarding confidential information
Brainstorm ideas to enhance curriculum and professional development through events
Planning Retreats and Team Outings
Keep office documents organized and functional.
Network with other departments that work together with the Campus Life Office
Perform other duties that are usual and common to the GA position or as assigned by the Director of Residence Life
