Location: Binghamton, NY

Rate: $3,450 Weekly

Shift: 40hrs - 5x8hrs - Days

Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cytologist to join our team. As a Cytologist, you will be responsible for examining cells and tissues under a microscope to detect abnormalities and diseases. Your expertise in laboratory management, specimen collection processing, and anatomy knowledge will be essential in providing accurate diagnoses

Responsibilties:

• Perform cytological examinations on various samples, including body fluids, fine needle aspirations, and tissue biopsies
• Prepare slides and stains for microscopic analysis
• Identify abnormal cells or tissue structures and document findings
• Collaborate with pathologists to interpret results and provide accurate diagnoses
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper functioning
• Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment
• Keep accurate records of patient information, test results, and laboratory procedures
• Stay updated with advancements in cytology techniques and attend relevant training sessions

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Cytology or related field
• Certification as a Cytotechnologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
• Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
• Experience with specimen collection processing techniques
• Familiarity with PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) and CT (Computed Tomography) scanning is preferred
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals
