Controller

This position will play a critical role in the growth and profitability of the businesses. The main objective of this role will be overseeing all day to day accounting functions and maintaining the accuracy of financial reporting for each business unit. However, due to the nature of this role, there will also be occasional responsibilities that will fall under other aspects of the businesses other than finance and accounting.

This role will work in tandem with the CFO and need to be a voice of sound guidance to identify and mitigate risk, increase profit, grow revenue, hold budgeting teams accountable, and enable team members to achieve our goals.

Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Own the month end process for the three businesses

  • Perform monthly account reconciliations

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations

  • Book various monthly expense accruals

  • Monitor expense trends and margins compared to budgets

• Propose and implement financial reporting process improvements

• Assist CFO as needed with presenting monthly financials to the executive team and managers

Cash Flow Management

• Ensure all transactions are posted properly

• Work with the team to report on and project changes in inventory

• Assist CFO with reporting and forecasting cash flow

Budget Oversight

• Work with CFO and management to build out annual budgets

• Incorporate budgets and forecasts with monthly reporting

Other Responsibilities

• Assist with annual insurance renewals

• Perform monthly/quarterly/annual tax filings related to sales and payroll

• Compile year end reports to submit to our tax accountant for annual tax filings

• Work with the CFO to provide information as needed to critical business relationships such as the bank, lawyer, and tax accountant

Professional Skill Set Requirements:

• High competency with Excel, Google Spreadsheets, and Quickbooks Online

• Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI

• High competency with financial modeling and data processing

• Solid grasp of accrual accounting principles

• Ability and desire to teach financial principles to team members

• Willingness to take responsibility for work performed and areas of improvement

• Willingness to report to management

• Ability to work in a high growth-minded and collaborative team environment

• Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively

Nice to haves:

• Experience with tax planning and understanding of tax returns

• Previous accounting experience in agriculture

Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
