Quality Assurance Manager

The Quality Assurance Manager will manage the overall QA functions at Seven Stars Bakery, and serve as a high-level technical resource for providing guidance to QA, purchasing, operations, facilities and equipment maintenance, and customer service as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the approval process for suppliers of bulk raw materials, ingredients and packaging supplies.

• Manage the approval process for product-contact packaging components.

• Oversee the receipt and inspection of bulk raw materials, ingredients and packaging supplies.

• Manage the approval of SOPs, and other quality-related documents.

• Oversee the development of all records and other quality documents that must be maintained per SOP, regulatory, and customer requirements.

• Enforce compliance on the part of every employee with respect to regulatory, corporate and customer requirements as it applies to every operation from receipt of raw materials, through production, baking, packaging, and distribution of finished products.

• Oversee the in-process testing program through all stages of preparation, baking and distribution operations.

• Review and approve the Batch Production Record for every lot of baked goods produced.

• Manage product complaints to resolution. Ensure proper corrective actions and preventive actions are tracked and closed out properly.

• Oversee the change control process.

• Oversee the deviation process.

• Oversee the approval process for contract laboratories.

• Deliver GMP and SOP-related training to employees as required that includes all food safety and allergen control training.

• Schedule and conduct internal audits as required.

• Host customer, third-party and regulatory audits.

• Assist in the implementation of corrective and preventive measures for audit findings.

• Assists in the handling of customer complaints.

• Maintain all active certifications.

• Serve as the point-of-contact for all raw material and finished product inquiries, and respond to technical quality concerns.

• Keep management informed of regulatory status of products and regulatory issues.

Special Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in the food industry.

• Excellent English and Spanish oral and written communications skills especially as applied to standard operating procedures and other quality-related documents.

• Ability to interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, drawings, specifications, safety rules, guidelines, etc.

Education

• A Bachelor of Science Degree in a related field is preferred.

• HACCP Certification preferred.

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more continuously throughout the day

• Constant standing/walking

• Occasional stooping or kneeling

• Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 50 lbs.

• Frequent, continual, intermittent flexing or rotation of the wrist(s) and spine

Work Schedule

Our full-time manager schedule is an average of 40-50 hours/week, likely to be more during holidays and includes Saturday/Sunday hours as part of your work schedule (the production bakery is 24 hours a day seven days a week).
