The Role

The Fidelity Institutional Technology group is looking for a highly motivated systems analyst to be part of its diverse, globally distributed team of IT professionals responsible for the development and maintenance of Fidelity Institutional’s Business Process Management system.
 

The primary focus of this position will entail analysis and support of the BPM application as it modernizes its tech stack and migrates to the cloud (AWS).

A successful systems analyst will be a key member of an agile delivery squad but is also involved in solutioning with our Squad Leads / Product Owners to gather & document business requirements, helping with current state analysis of our systems, helping define our technology solution, and partnering with QA in test case preparation. The role requires great collaboration with members of various business and IT groups throughout the life cycle of a project.
 

The Expertise and Skills You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Finance, Information Technology, or Management Information Systems
  • 8-10 years of total engineering and systems analysis experience
  • Moderate to advanced analysis expertise of end-to-end processes within a Web application environment, leveraging tools and techniques for presenting and analyzing data including, Rest API technologies, SQL, Spring Boot, JSON, Java, using tools such as Postman/Insomnia and SQL.
  • The ability to examine and analyze existing IT systems and business and data models to identify requirements with the ability to articulate business problems / requirements / solutions in technology terms and vice versa.
  • Proven expertise with solution design of new systems based on requirements.
  • Proven expertise in system assessments methodologies and techniques, including data analysis, use case development, story writing, testing, and product documentation.
  • Communicates with stakeholders on a regular basis and manages expectations of internal and external stakeholders.
  • A self-starter and excellent team member who is independent, collaborative, and can work with minimum supervision.
  • A highly curious and motivated learner with strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; Communicates clearly, concisely, and impactfully to influence others.
  • Approaches work with an open mind and sense of creativity by challenging current practices and recommending improvements.
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguous circumstances and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability.
  • Growth mentality with a passion for continuous learning and development.
  • Experience within the financial services industry (especially Brokerage & Managed Accounts) is a plus.

  • Collaborate with multiple other Agile teams (Scaled Agile) to lead dependencies and scope.
  • Work with business and technology partners to define the scope of problems/issues, in terms of business and/or system requirements and processes.
  • Work with Agile team to develop user stories, acceptance criteria, and story maps.
  • Participate in backlog refinement sessions. Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable, requirements/user stories. Collaborate with Agile team members to research and evaluate alternative solutions.
  • Evaluate design of existing systems to judge their functionality, efficiency, reliability, performance, usage, maintainability, and cost of ownership.
  • Collaborate and anticipate with Agile team members to build comprehensive and cohesive solution approaches. Be able to clearly articulate the squad’s needs, requirements, and dependencies.
  • Provide support in estimating, planning, scheduling, and prioritizing work.
  • Apply documentation standards and best practices
     

The Team

Fidelity Institutional provides products and services to banks, broker/dealers, registered investment advisors, family offices, and other financial intermediaries to meet their brokerage and banking needs. The FI technology platform is delivered to these external clients, primarily via web-based and mobile applications, application programming interfaces, transmission files, and collaborates with third-party applications. Some of these offerings include trading, account servicing and maintenance, account opening and money movement, reporting, analytics, and data delivery and presentation.
