Currently, we are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager with expertise in hydraulic systems and a strong background in mechanical engineering to lead our dynamic team of engineers.

Position Overview: The Engineering Manager for Research & Development of Hydraulic Systems and Automotive Equipment will play a critical role in leading the design, development, and optimization of both hydraulic systems and new automotive service equipment within SFA Companies. This position requires a blend of technical expertise in hydraulic systems and a passion for research and development to drive innovation in automotive maintenance technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management:
  • Hire, train, lead, and mentor a team of engineers and technicians specializing in hydraulic systems and automotive equipment.
  • Provide guidance, support, and technical expertise to team members to ensure project success.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative environment conducive to continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Confers with management, sales, and tech service to discuss project specifications, guidelines, and goals.
  • Present and explain proposals, reports, and/or findings to management, sales, or other stakeholders.
  • Hydraulic Systems Design and Development:
  • Oversee the design and development of hydraulic systems for the industrial hydraulic and automotive service equipment markets, such as hydraulic lifts and high pressure pumps.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, lab technicians, product managers, and factory representatives to integrate hydraulic systems.
  • Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements.
  • Research and Development:
  • Lead research initiatives to identify emerging technologies and trends in automotive maintenance and industrial hydraulic systems.
  • Drive innovation by conceptualizing, designing, and prototyping new automotive service equipment and industrial hydraulic solutions.
  • Collaborate with external partners, suppliers, and industry experts to leverage expertise and resources for R&D projects.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Utilize expertise in mechanical engineering principles, fluid dynamics, and hydraulic systems to provide technical guidance and problem-solving support.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies related to automotive maintenance equipment and hydraulic systems.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing insights and recommendations for optimizing designs and processes.
  • Project Management:
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements, scopes, and objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Quality Assurance and Testing:
  • Establish and implement testing protocols and procedures to validate equipment performance and reliability.
  • Analyze test data and implement improvements to enhance equipment efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation including design specifications, test plans, and reports.
  • Provide regular progress updates and reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Document lessons learned and best practices for future reference.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (8 years) in engineering management, preferably in the automotive industry with a focus on hydraulic systems.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic system design, components, and principles.
  • Experience in R&D, with a track record of conceptualizing and developing innovative automotive service equipment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for design and analysis (e.g., SolidWorks).
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a demonstrated track record of delivering innovative solutions.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to automotive equipment and hydraulic systems.
  • Project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products including Excel, Word
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics ERP system is a plus
