What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Manager position at SFJAZZ?
Summary
SFJAZZ is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Production Manager to manage the execution of all the production elements of performances at our world class venue as well as our offsite partner venues. Performances vary from artistic to education and more. This position is full time, exempt, and it reports to the Director, Production & Front of House. The position works closely with other productions team members as well as front-of-house staff.
Responsibilities
- Review artist technical riders to collect contractual details
- Monitor production budgets for all assigned productions, including but not limited to – the SFJAZZ Season, San Francisco Jazz Festival, SFJAZZ Summer Sessions and Education programs
- Advance production elements for upcoming performances, events and functions at SFJAZZ, including developing a detailed list of audio, backline, hospitality, lighting, and video requirements as well as timelines for each event and/or series.
- Liase with Artist Logistics Manager to coordinate artist arrivals via ground transportation
- Generate detailed event paperwork for distribution to event staff
- Supervise the production of Artistic and Education events through coordination with Department Managers
- Fill the role of Stage Manager for SFJAZZ performances that you have advanced
- Supervise Production staff as it relates to event and/or performance requirements
- Work collaboratively and professionally with the Production team and the organization at large
- Problem-solve and collaborate with SFJAZZ management and staff to create a solutions-based environment for all events
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of live performance audio systems, backline equipment, lighting systems and multi-media video systems
- At least 4-5 years of experience working in Production and collaborating with high profile or high touch personalities or artists
- Experience with monitoring budgets
- Ability to direct and manage several tasks of equal priority simultaneously
- Sustain productivity under pressure in order to retain a strict timeline of the show schedule
- Highly organized, independent and confident communicating with high-profile individuals
- Proficiency in multiple computer operating systems (Apple OS and Microsoft Windows), including, but not limited to: Apple Keynote, Microsoft O365 suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Experience with Artifax a plus
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred
Working Conditions
The typical workweek for this role is Wednesday – Sunday with regular on-site hours during evenings and holidays. Physical requirements include the ability to safely navigate stairs, extended periods of time standing, working in dark environments, and the ability to lift up to 35 pounds
Salary : $80,000
