NOTE: Candidate must be available to work morning and evening shifts. No overnights.

 

Summary: Responsible for recording sales transactions on the cash register, assisting the store manager with the efficient and effective management of the facility and managing the location in the absence of the manager by providing prompt, efficient, effective, safe and courteous quality service to the customer by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Work as a cashier full time by operating cash register and all point-of-sale equipment accurately & efficiently with overseeing cashier’s duties on a daily basis. See Cashier’s Job Description for more information.

2. Provide excellent customer service to all customers by discovering their needs with management support.

3. Resolve and report customer complaints tactfully and promptly.

4. Develop and maintain fully staffed store by assisting the store manager with ordering the required products, supplies and equipment.

5. Contributes in inventory audits and rotating merchandise.

6. Supervise and support in the cleaning of the store interior/exterior, dispensers, and other designated areas on a daily basis.

7. Assist the manager in maintaining building, equipment and grounds.

8. Replace manager when needed by ensuring the store operates without interruption in accordance with company policies.

9. Prepare all the necessary paper work & reports, including lottery inventory, enter manual data in CSO program and make bank deposits daily during absence of manager when required.

10. Follow all company credit card, cash, merchandise handling policies, including lottery, tobacco sales, & gas station loyalty programs; vendor coupon & food stamps redemptions.

11. May analyze financial data including but limited to: shift and daily reports, invoices, expenses, cash shortages, merchandise and lottery inventory shortages to find out problems and identify business opportunities to increase sales and profitability.

12. Assist the manager in hiring and training new cashiers, and preparing schedules.

13. Follow policies and procedures established to prevent loss of cash and merchandise due to actions by employees, vendors and customers; watch video footage to identify any problems.

14. Effectively manage employees during absence of manager; address employee relations issues and follow through and communicate employee relations problems to management for further handling.

15. Take turns with other assistant manager and/or manager to cover different shifts in case of emergencies.

16. Carry out cashier responsibilities in addition to management responsibilities, as required.

17. Attend store meetings and training sessions as requested.

18. Report any problems or discrepancies to the manager.

19. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or Equivalent. Prior cashier and/or assistant manager experience helpful.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Certification/Licensure: Valid Class “C” Driver’s License and vehicle required. Must possess or be able to successfully pass ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification Online Exam.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business communications, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to understand procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, vendors and customers.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and transport up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
