POSITION SUMMARY
This Graphic or Technical Designer is responsible for translating merchandising guidelines into branded retail directive planograms and retail space planning. This position requires a high aptitude for attention to detail, imagining a space plan in 3-dimensions, understanding of dimensional technical drawings, and quickly adapting to changing project requirements. The designer works with customer service representatives and directly with customers concerning questions on retail specifications, planograms, templates, fixture specifications, and final review for distribution.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read and interpret customer merchandising for all retailer merchandising.
- Candidates must show extreme attention to detail and, as a 2D designer, understands the physical / 3D environment their designs will interact within a retail space
- Conceptualize new or existing retail space with new and updated merchandising.
- Ideate and develop custom or modified retail fixtures.
- Ensure client brand standards are maintained across all platforms.
- Utilize graphic software to design and produce finished merchandising documentation.
- Interface directly with the customer to edit and revise artwork as needed to produce a quality product.
- Verify overall quality of product customer instructions match final deliverables.
- Retrieve and import guidance for merchandising requested by customers.
- Consult with managers and team for departmental review and critique of final product when necessary.
- Create detailed to-scale documentation taking into account dimensions of real-world environments.
- Quality check/inspect the accuracy of completed work.
- Produce and send preliminary documents for customer approval. Suggest improvements as needed.
- Ensures consistency of design with brand and quality standards.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Design, Advertising, Marketing or related field
- Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred
- 6 years progressive design experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
- Ability to provide professional portfolio upon request
- High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
- Proficient with design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, QuarkXpress, etc.
- Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
- Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
- Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
