What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMG TECHNICIAN position at SGMC?

    • Performs nerve conduction studies on patients followed by the guidelines and procedures of The American Association of Electro diagnostic Technologists under the supervision of EMG physicians.
    • Performs nerve conduction studies on both common and uncommon nerves to aid the EMG physician in the best studies to reveal abnormalities.
    • Recognizes and troubleshoots physiologic and non-physiological artifact and technical issues, while recognizing normal and abnormal results to take the reasonable steps to obtain the best study on the patient.
    • Performs Nerve conduction studies independently in routine settings under direct supervision of our EMG physicians.
    • Cleans, replenishes, maintains and assures availability of instruments and supplies needed in the EMG Lab.
    • Assists EMG Physician as needed during the needle examination and sets up for his procedure.
    • Keeps equipment clean and in operating condition, detects instrument malfunctions and makes minor maintenance adjustments or reports the needed for major repairs.
    • Performs other related duties as required or needed in the office.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
    • Associate’s Degree Required
    • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
    • R. NCS T Preferred (Must obtain R.NCS T within one year of hire)
    • One year Experience
    • Must maintain Basic Life Support certification in CPR.
    • Computer literacy required.
    • Good communications skills required.
    • Work requires intermediate computer literacy skills and keyboard proficiency.
    • Work requires interpersonal skills to communicate with team members and a high level of social sensitivity when communicating with patients to explain procedures and/or tests.
    • Must be compassionate, professional, and empathetic when handling patient complaints and concerns while remaining focused on providing a positive patient experience.
    • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
    • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, interpersonal, and team building skills.
    • Professional and demonstrates great poise.
