Summary
The Principle Investigator is responsible for providing medical oversight for the clinical studies which are conducted by SGS Stephens.
Reporting Line
Directly reports to the Chief Scientific Director of US Cosmetics & Hygiene

- Assist SGS-STEPHENS Research Centers (RRC) with ordering prescription products and devices from pharmacies and professional retailers for clinical trial use;
- Either treat or help to coordinate temporary medical treatment of subjects experiencing an adverse reaction in conjunction with a clinical trial;
- Agree to maintain appropriate records, reports, notes and correspondence necessary and appropriate in connection with all professional and management services rendered by under this Agreement;
- Notify SGS-STEPHENS within 48 hours of any debarment or pending action or threat of debarment under the provisions of the Generic Drug Enforcement Act of 1992, 21 U.S.C. §335(a) and (b) or other medical licensing boards or regulatory bodies that affect the ability to execute the duties as medical director.;
- Identify other medical professionals (physicians, dentists, podiatrists, estheticians and health professionals, etc. in other medical specialties) to serve as Investigator, Sub-Investigator or supporting staff on studies;
- Make every reasonable effort to meet with clients and potential clients at meetings (e.g., American Academy of Dermatology or the American Academy of Ophthalmology) and other mutually agreed to meetings;
- Allow the use of the Medical Director’s name and image (photograph) and when appropriate voice by SGS-STEPHENS for marketing literature, website, presentations, technical posters and research articles;
- Participate in technical and marketing presentations, as needed and
- Promote the business of SGS-STEPHENS especially with current and new cosmetics, medical device nutritional supplements and pharmaceutical clients.
- Serve as Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator on selected studies, as required and as confirmed by the study protocol
- Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.

Education and Experience
- Required:
- MD, DO or equivalent medical degree
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a practicing physician
Licenses / Certification
- If MD, DO or equivalent degree, must have graduated from accredited medical school and completed internship, and residency requirement
- Board eligible or board certified in relevant specialty in the US
- Active medical license in the state where SGS-clinical testing center is located
- Active DEA registration number
Knowledge / Skills / Abilites
- Language Skills: English Basic level of knowledge required; other languages are a PLUS
- Mathematical Skills: Basic
- Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Average level required
- Computer Skills: MS Office Suite – Basic user proficiency required; ability to access and enter grading scores and subject notes into an electronic data entry system
- Willingness to complete SGS-Stephens GCP training requirements for being a clinical investigator
- Ability to work in team environment and maintain professional behavior
- Excellent communication skills

- Employee in this role will evaluate subjects, operate medical and surgical equipment, administer medical treatment and procedures such as anesthesia, skin biopsies, injectables, skin sutures, laser treatments, skin resurfacing, microneedles, perform skin sampling procedures, skin lancing, specimen collection, eye and eye area exams and treatments, oversee EKG, blood pressure and ocular pressure measurements as well as operate phones and computer
