What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Systems Technician position at SGWS?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Warehouse Systems Technician is responsible for all support activities required for upkeep and maintenance of warehouse MHE (Material Handling Equipment) systems at all SGWS locations to ensure they function as intended to support ongoing business operations** This role acts as the initial point of contact and troubleshooter for Tier 1 warehouse technical support, 2nd level contact for Tier 2 warehouses, and will triage to 3rd level vendor or ETP (IT Department) support as needed. This individual is also responsible for developing advanced processes for preventive maintenance and assist in evaluating other distribution systems.
**Note:
- Warehouse equipment includes warehouse servers, workstations, label & report printers, RF and conveyor scanners, headsets, hand scanners, etc.
Core Responsibilities:
- Track all warehouse systems and equipment
- Support Windows OS Patching and Updates
- Manage patching effort for assigned sites
- Work with vendors prior to patching to validate patches
- Coordinate with sites to schedule patching activity
- Coordinate resources and testing schedule
- Work with warehouses to test the system after activity is complete
- Facilitate bridge call for respective sites
- Work with vendors and IT staff for patch remediation, if necessary
- Assist in testing systems if patches are to be reverted
- Sign-off on testing
- Support any patch related issues
- Provide the first level of support to resolve incidents involving infrastructure and client technology, including but not limited to client hardware/software, printers, and network components in MHE production systems
- Support vendor VPN client connectivity and configuration
- Coordinate with other departments to supports Supply Chain related projects and upgrades including but not limited to network upgrades, MHE upgrades and software deployments
- Rolling out and upkeep of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) tool to respective site
- Building and broadcasting reports for SCM Technology Reporting
- Provide support to the division (24x7) or as directed by your manager (rotation)
- Participate in Operational Initiatives as necessary
- Proactively work to reduce costs and improve productivity (continuous Improvement)
- Assist in the development of warehouse process
- Provide training for employees on procedures/systems
- Collaborates with other functional areas to identify system integration opportunities
- Develop advanced processes (including predictive/preventative maintenance techniques) to measure, analyze and improve equipment performance (reliability) and prioritization of improvement projects
- Manage and Assist with the maintaining of the Material Handling systems (conveyor, SRM’s in motion scanners, VFD’s, Servo Motors and controls, etc.)
- Coordination with relevant Warehouse Equipment vendors for issue resolution and service performance at respective DCs
- Initial point of contact for onsite support at respective Distribution Center
- Handle incidents & provide support (offsite) for remote small and medium distribution centers and triage as needed
- Configure and maintain warehouse printers, scanners, headsets, and dedicated workstations across the enterprise
- Document and escalate issues to the appropriate vendors and SGWS SCM support groups
- Manages and maintains the spare parts inventory and report as required to keep the systems ready for production
- Be on call and available for ownership of the MHE’s systems function at all times
- Oversee detailed root cause analysis of reliability issues
- Implement operations continuous improvement measures and initiatives
- Communicate effectively up and down the organizational hierarchy in Operations and Senior leadership
- Ensure effective administration and compliance of all internal process and procedures
Schedule: Depends on state production work schedule M-Thu or Sun -Thu or Tu-Sat as required

Qualifications
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree (Industrial, Mechanical, business administration, computer science, information systems, or other industry related curriculum) or Sufficient and relevant work experience
Experience Requirements:
- 5 or more years of work experience
- 3 or more years of work experience in Warehouse Operations & Support
- Understanding of IT infrastructure, including (e.g., printers, PC's, software programs)
- Ability to successfully troubleshoot LAN/WAN and VPN desktop or mobile device connectivity issues
- Knowledge of wholesale distribution strongly preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- MS Office and other general desktop software experience required
- Advanced understanding of Excel strongly preferred
- Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
- Must have some experience with troubleshooting and provisioning MS Windows based systems
- Strong organizational & time management skills. Must be able to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and change direction on short notice in an effective manner.
