Support Group Facilitator (Bilingual English and Chinese)

Job Title: Support Group Facilitator (Bilingual English and Chinese) 

Department: Patient Support and Education 

Reports to: Vice President of Patient Support and Education 

Work Location: Remote 

Compensation: $200 per session (1.5 hours) 

SHARE Cancer Support is a national nonprofit that supports, educates, and empowers anyone  who has been diagnosed with breast and gynecologic cancers, and provides outreach to the  general public about signs and symptoms. We are a compassionate community of  knowledgeable survivors, those living with cancer, and healthcare professionals. 

Position Summary: 

The Support Group Facilitator will lead and facilitate a support group for breast cancer patients  and survivors. The facilitator will provide emotional support, guidance, and information to  group members and encourage group participation and interaction. The facilitator will also  promote a positive and safe environment for group members to share their experiences,  feelings, and concerns related to breast cancer. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Plan and lead support group meetings for breast cancer patients and survivors • Provide emotional support, guidance, information and resources to group members • Encourage group participation and interaction 
• Promote a positive and safe environment for group members to share their experiences,  feelings, and concerns related to breast cancer 
• Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of group members 
• Attend training and meetings as required 
• Participate in ongoing learning and professional development activities • Maintain record to include attendance and notes on group members/interactions • Provide occasional individual support to group members 

Qualifications: 

• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required 
• Bilingual English and Mandarin/Cantonese required  
• Experience in working with breast cancer patients 
• Compassionate and empathetic nature
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships and connect with  group members 
• Strong organizational and time management skills 
• Understanding of breast cancer treatments and resources is a plus 
• Completion of mandatory training and attendance at ongoing meetings and training Working Conditions: 
• The position is remote and support groups are held via Zoom 
• The facilitator will need to provide information (i.e.; attendance and groups notes) to  SHARE staff 
• Facilitators must commit to a regular meeting schedule, typically once a month • Facilitators must be available for a minimum of one year of service
