ShareHouse, Inc. ranked the Best Residential and Outpatient chemical dependency treatment center in the region is seeking a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) to facilitate groups and provide primary individual counseling in our residential and outpatient programs. Experience in chemical dependency and mental health treatment is preferred, but not required. LAC DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Conduct assessments to determine client treatment needs.
    • Provide individual and group counseling, using variety of therapeutic techniques, to facilitate and maintain sobriety and wellness, to assist in growth and progress toward completion of treatment plan goals and objectives.
    • Develop materials for and facilitate client group meetings such as 12 step, relapse prevention, trauma, parenting, spirituality, etc., to assist in sobriety and wellness.
    • Assess client progress to evaluate success of treatment.
    • Maintains records and documents on clients and treatment progress as required by Federal, state, insurance/payment provider and ShareHouse standards, regulations, and policies.
    • Attend and participate in staff meetings to consult with other professional staff to ensure appropriate treatment, programming, and client progress.
    • Refer clients to and consult with other support services as needed to ensure continued and appropriate treatment.
    • Conduct administrative duties to include progress notes and documentation, creation, and review of treatment plans, completed in a timely manner according to program-specific policy and procedure, to adhere to applicable state, federal and agency regulations.
    • Provide and maintain reliable and prompt attendance, with the ability to work the schedule dictated by business necessity, to include evenings, on-call rotation and weekends as needed.


    PERIODIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Maintain contact and communication with outside agencies as needed to ensure open communication and transfer of information.
    • Participate in on-call rotation to ensure coverage for client needs.
    • Attend administrative and other meetings as required to maintain and increase awareness of organizational goals and objectives; communicate information as necessary to staff.
    • Provide leadership in the advocacy of ShareHouse and represent the organization at outside meetings in a positive manner to increase awareness of and generate interest in program.
    • Serve on committees as assigned by Program Director.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Requires bachelor’s degree in related discipline such as social work, chemical dependency, counseling or human services
    • May require Masters’ degree in related field, dependent upon specific position requirements and program needs
    • Required minimum work experience dependent upon position and program.


    REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:

    • Requires current Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counseling certification or Licensed Addiction Counselor certification, depending on state/location/program or
    • Meet exemptions under applicable Federal/state rules and statutes.
    • May require current Licensed Clinical Independent Social Worker certification or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, dependent upon specific position requirements and program needs.
    • May be required to possess and maintain valid driver license and be able to be insured according to company insurance standards.


    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

    • Possess strong familiarly with and knowledge of state and Federal regulations, and company policies/procedures that apply to chemical dependency treatment and healthcare.
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret business communication.
    • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate in both written and oral forms.
    • Ability to comprehend written and oral communication.
    • Ability to proof and check documents for accuracy.
    • Demonstrate a high level of skill with interpersonal relationship-building.
    • Ability to use independent judgment to solve diverse and complex problems.
    • Ability to manage multiple, competing tasks and demands and manage time efficiently.
    • Ability to establish relationships with clients, peers, direct reports, and management.
    • Ability to handle crisis and emotionally charged situations with poise and professionalism.
    • Ability to type/keyboard with minimal errors.
    • Possess strong motivational, negotiation and influencing skills.
    • Ability to gain cooperation from others
    • Flexibility to work as business dictates, to include evenings, on-call rotation and weekends as needed

    • Stooping and bending
    • Reaching and grasping
    • Pushing and pulling, lifting and carrying up to 15 lbs
    • Ability to communicate orally and hear/understand oral communication

    Occasionally requires:

    • Standing for up to 1 hour
    • Use of color vision and ability to distinguish colors

    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    This position works in an environment with few physical discomforts; may occasionally be exposed to drafts, noise, temperature variations and odors.
