What are the responsibilities and job description for the Import Manager position at SharkNinja?
As Import Manager for the UK and EU you will lead the day to day management of the team that enables the flow of goods into our warehouses ensuring we manage competing priorities whilst delivering seamless service to our 3PL partners. In imports, no two days are the same! You will be responsible for overseeing the movement of product from our global manufacturing facilities through to successful delivery at our 3PLs in the UK and Europe. You will be collaborating daily with the SharkNinja global teams, freight forwarders, ocean freight carriers and 3PL partners. You will be working to ensure stock is moved via the most efficient and cost-effective means in order to deliver best in class service to our consumers. You will be a key point of contact across our operations for any customs queries.
The successful candidate will have the ability to apply critical thinking to adapt processes and to create solutions in response to challenges faced both internally and externally. The person will need to be able to make data driven decisions and work in a fast paced environment.
We work flexibly and anticipate a mix of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home but this may change if business needs alter.
\n- Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Manage a team of our dedicated colleagues and lead by example
- Work with origin teams and booking agents, giving direction on booking priorities
- Provide forecasts to shipping lines and work on allocation planning
- Work with freight forwarders, 3PL partners and Planning on capacities to ensure shipments are delivered as quickly as possible and according to priorities
- Obtain best value rates for adhoc ocean freight shipments and air freight
- Provide clearance instructions to customs brokers
- Audit import entries, identify any discrepancies and following through to correction
- Create paperwork for international warehouse transfers and adhoc export shipments and ensure compliance with local customs regulations
- Evaluate processes and systems and improve ways of working
- Escalate key issues to leadership proactively and in a timely manner
- Produce and maintain end to end SOPs and process maps
- Support with KPI and financial reporting
- Essential:
- Leadership experience ideally working in ocean imports or freight forwarding with in depth knowledge and the ability to lead a team in this area
- Full working knowledge of the processes, documentation and terminology used in international freight and customs, both import and export
- Experience of managing freight movements between the UK and EU following Brexit
- Strong commercial acumen, results and data driven
- High level of attention to detail and excellent record keeping
- Strong analytical skills, ability to see the bigger picture and continuously identify new ways of improving our ways of working
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload accordingly
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of business departments
- Problem-solving mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Advantageous:
- Experience of working with BCO agreements, ideally as shipper
- Additional experience in customs procedures such as inward processing relief, customs warehousing, tariff work.
- Experience in completing import/export declarations
- Experience with Oracle ERP system
