What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Technician position at Sharon Cutwell?

We’re seeking a committed, highly trainable, quality technician to fill a full-time first shift position. The ideal candidate has 3 yrs of experience and wants to grow into a leadership role with the QMS (Quality Management System).  We manufacture cutting tools in a clean, high-tech environment with state-of-the-art equipment.

This person will be responsible for:

  • Receiving Inspection of raw materials and subcontracted work.*
  • Final Inspection of finished product.*
  • Inprocess inspection where help is needed.*
  • Be involved in day-to-day receiving, inprocess and final inspections.
  • Perform visual inspection with stereo microscopes and comparators.
  • Answer measurement questions.
  • Be able to use computers for data entry, transactions, and file management (MS365: Excel, Word, Outlook). Epicor ERP experience is a plus.

*checking parts, recording results, entering nonconformances, correlating counts and certifications, and make transactions in our ERP system.

Other duties may include:

  • Laser Marking product.
  • Helping with receiving or shipping.
  • Assisting the quality manager.

Skills:

  • Be able to setup and use basic measuring tools (comparator, indicator, micrometer, laser micrometer) and has experience with, or have the capacity to learn to use, coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to measure complex geometries.
  • Have an ‘end goal’ approach to finding solutions; a methodical sequence to troubleshooting.
  • Have solid communication skills.
  • Software: MS programs needed to produce documentation and track work.
  • Understand when to seek internal or external help or training.
  • Familiarity with nonconforming material, corrective action, internal audit, document control, calibration, continual improvement, and supplier quality processes a must.
  • Internal Auditor ISO9001:2015 Certification is a plus. ASQ Certifications are a plus.
