The Production Manager contributes to Shaw Bakers’ success by managing day-to-day manufacturing operations. Ensures compliance with established quality standards and the safe, productive operation of all manufacturing activities, including efficiency, labor, and products. Will assist in maintaining a high integrity of the product quality and final production.  

Understands function/ department success measures and stay aware of personal and team progress against them. Prioritize and focus on what is important.  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key responsibility satisfactorily. 

Models and acts in accordance with Shaw Bakers handbook. 

Requirements

 Summary of Key Responsibilities  

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:  

Leadership and team development – Setting goals for the work group and providing team members with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities. 

  • Challenges and inspires team members to achieve business results. Supports team members in presenting ideas to improve efficiency and productivity of operations in their departments. 
  • Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the success of direct reports and ensures the completion of performance reviews.  
  • Ensures team members adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.  
  • Oversees training and development of team members directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.  
  • Provides coaching, technical expertise and leadership support to direct reports to mentor them to be successful leaders. 
  • Ensures effective and timely communication of company, plant and department information to managers, including supervisors, leads and team members. 

Planning and Execution - Manages day-to-day wholesale operations on the shop floor.  

  • Manages training and implementation of existing and new products in these departments.   
  • Monitors production throughput, volume fluctuations and labor utilization to ensure smooth manufacturing operations.  
  • Ensures that teams work in accordance with the production schedule to provide product reliability.  
  • Ensures appropriate staffing to meet new business requirements and volume fluctuations.  
  • Supports all established plant and manufacturing goals and objectives. Apprises director of team progress and any obstacles.  
  • Operates within established budgets, forecasts, cost objectives and service levels to control expenses. Supports implementation of cost, quality and service improvement initiatives.

Basic Qualifications  

Basic Qualifications are objective, non-comparative, and relevant requirements essential to performing a role anywhere in the company. Examples include minimum educational requirement or specific degrees, certifications, minimum number of years of experience in a similar role with similar scope or level of responsibility, experience with core technology tools or platforms such as Microsoft Office, equivalent military experience, etc.  

  • Education:  College education preferred. High school education required.  
  • Equipment/Software Skills: Computer skills.   
  • Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Food safety certificate, Lean training. 
  • Language Requirements:  Bilingual desired (English and Spanish)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing 
  • Ability to provide technical leadership in all areas of production. 
  • Problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to understand and follow established safety procedures. 
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach and mentor others. 
  • Familiarity with American Institute of Baking (AIB), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards
