Purpose and Scope
The essential function of the position within the organization is to facilitate the provision of services to students and families regarding social, behavioral, emotional, and academic challenges. The position is responsible for evaluating students' needs, assisting in preparing and implementing plans to assist them with behavioral/social/psychological issues, proving individual and group counseling, providing consultation to teachers and other professionals, maintaining accurate and complete case records, and performing related work as required. The position works independently, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Essential Job Functions
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in social work and one (1) year of related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience. Requires licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker by the Tennessee Department of Health, Tennessee Board of Social Worker Licensure (TBSWL) and Licensed School Social Worker by the Tennessee Department of Education. Licensed Clinical Social Work credential through the State of Tennessee is preferred. Requires a valid Driver's license. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)
Degree Equivalency Formula:
Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.
Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of principles, concepts and theories of social work; skill in developing psychosocial assessments to establish goals and plans for students
- Ability to collaborate with psychologist, teachers, parents, and others; skill in providing direct or indirect intervention strategies
- Ability to provide individual and group counseling to students and families
- Ability to serve as an advocate and liaison between schools and agencies
- Ability to write logical, concise and grammatically correct reports and documentation of services
- Ability to work with confidential issues and information in a secure manner; skill in interacting with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds for the purpose of providing services
Physical Requirements and Working Environment
Physical Demands: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating office equipment.
Unavoidable Hazards: The position is exposed to no unusual environmental hazards.
Sensory (ADA) Requirements: The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities.

This position is funded through the ESSER grant to provide services at MSCS Mental Health and Family Wellness Centers. Work hours will be 10:00 am-6:00 pm or 11:00 pm-7:00 pm Monday-Friday.Salary : $70,720 - $0
