Head of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
We are seeking a visionary and accomplished Head of Artificial Intelligence to lead the AI strategy and drive innovation at Shelf. As the Head of AI, you will be responsible for shaping the direction and development of our AI product, leveraging your expertise to create groundbreaking solutions.
The Head of AI will collaborate with high-level stakeholders throughout the organization to develop, implement, and maintain strategies for data acquisition, analysis, and experimentation.

What You’ll Do
Contribute to and execute the overall AI strategy, aligning it with the company's product vision and business objectives.
Lead and manage a team of AI engineers, data scientists, and researchers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
Drive the research, development, and implementation of advanced AI algorithms, models, and systems, ensuring they align with the product roadmap and market demands.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and business development, to identify and prioritize AI opportunities that enhance our product's value proposition.
Stay at the forefront of AI research, technologies, and industry trends, evaluating their potential application to our product and driving competitive advantage.
Lead the design and implementation of scalable and efficient AI systems, including data collection, preprocessing, feature engineering, and model training and deployment.
Oversee the integration of AI technologies into our product, working closely with engineering teams to ensure seamless implementation and optimal performance.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with external partners, academic institutions, and industry experts to foster collaboration, exchange knowledge, and access cutting-edge AI advancements.
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to the AI team, fostering their professional growth and ensuring a high level of expertise within the organization.
Stay informed about ethical considerations, privacy regulations, and responsible AI practices, ensuring compliance and driving ethical AI principles across the company.
What You Bring
A master's or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, or computer science. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
Proven experience in leading and managing AI teams, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment.
Strong expertise in AI, machine learning, deep learning, and related technologies, with a track record of successfully developing and implementing AI solutions.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, and experience using frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
In-depth knowledge of AI algorithms, techniques, and architectures, with a focus on natural language processing, computer vision, or reinforcement learning, depending on the company's needs.
Experience with big data processing and distributed computing frameworks, such as Hadoop, Spark, or distributed databases, is highly desirable.
Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and experience deploying AI solutions in a cloud environment.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and influence others, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a passion for innovation and a drive to push the boundaries of AI technologies.
A strong ethical mindset and commitment to responsible AI practices.
