Job Posting for Facilities and Maintenance Assistant at Shelter House Iowa
Description
Things don't last forever, but you know how to make them last an awfully long time. You have experience making things work and are eager to learn, too.
Position Responsibilities:

Responsible for all day-to-day facility-related operations including scheduled maintenance, repairs, upgrades, work requests, and emergency situations at all Shelter House facilities.
Oversee third-party vendors and subcontractors as advised by the Facilities and Maintenance Manager (FMM).
Provide on-going maintenance and repair of the Emergency Shelter and Permanent Supportive Housing units and all Shelter House property and leased properties, including performing minor electrical, carpentry, basic plumbing, flooring work, and heavy emphasis on drywalling and painting.
Perform preventative maintenance work on a regular basis and complete repairs requested through work orders or identified by the FMM.
Assist with cleaning and support the Fresh Starts janitorial crew as advised by the FMM to maintain cleanliness in the common areas of the building interiors.
Maintain parking lots, fencing, grounds and perform seasonal maintenance, mowing, and hedge trimming.
Maintain and repair furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Maintain unit heaters and building HVAC systems and change filters as needed.
Respond to emergency calls to provided cellular phone for emergency requests after normal working hours.
Work in consultation with the FMM to assess each maintenance issue to determine if it can be handled easily internally or if there is a need for a third-party vendor. Approach each request with reducing long-term costs to the organization and stewardship of funds in mind.
Maintain a work-log to document all maintenance work performed.
Maintain records of all requests, communication, and resolution of requests.
Ensure the grounds of all properties are well-maintained with snow removal, yard maintenance, and mowing.
