Position: Receptionist - Resident Advisor - Part Time
Please note: This position is a job share position averaging 20 hours per week, alternating days during the hours of 8 am - 4 pm Monday through Friday.
General Statement of Duties: Being the first point of contact for Shelter of Flint, this position is responsible for delivering excellent customer service. Whether greeting visitors, staff members or residents, by phone or in person, work to understand what the needs of each individual may be and respond to achieve the most advantageous outcome.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
- Answer all phone calls responding to each callers’ unique needs with professionalism.
- Work to ensure that all callers find solutions, direction or resolution to their issue.
- Provide timely and accurate transfer of phone calls as appropriate.
- Take messages as needed and communicate in writing or voice mail, complete and accurate information from the caller.
- Record all phone calls on the “call log” maintained on the front desk computer.
- Respond to doorbell according to procedures, greeting all visitors and residents kindly and professionally.
- Sort and distribute incoming mail.
- Respond to crisis calls according to policy and procedure.
- When time allows, assist with maintaining copies of printed materials, replenishing the resource center and document file folders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma, Associate’s Degree preferred
Experience: Minimum of one year professional experience
Skills: Knowledge of Word and Excel.
Ability to organize and manage time effectively.
Outstanding oral and writing skills.
Knowledge of business systems, record keeping, & filing.
Must be computer competent.
Ability to work as a team with coworkers.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Special Requirements:
Ability to lift a maximum of 15 lbs

COVID-19 considerations:
Masks are required at all time. There are plexiglass barriers at the desk and sanitization is done regularly. A lab comes every Monday to do mandatory covid testing for all residents. It is optional for staff to be tested.
