What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infection Control Nurse position at Sheppard Pratt?
We have an exciting opportunity for an Infection Control Nurse! Under the direction of the Senior Infection Control Coordinator, this individual assists in the administration of the Health System's Infection Control process to ensure compliance with organizational policies, Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, and The Joint Commission accreditation standards. Works proactively through electronic reporting systems, in-service education, and preliminary investigations of incidents to prevent and/or rectify concerns and avoid problems. Recommends and monitors appropriate actions in response to identified problems. Reports infection control data to the Senior Infection Control Coordinator for centralized reporting to internal sources and external regulatory agencies. Conducts in-service education. Works with programs to assure refrigerator temperatures are monitored and maintained for compliance. Administers TB testing and influenza vaccines as needed. Position is primarily based our of Sheppard Pratt Health System's main campus in Towson, MD (Baltimore County) but does require occasional travel to other SPHS locations to investigate and respond to infection control concerns.
Requires: Current RN license in the State of Maryland at time of appointment and continuously throughout tenure in position. AA degree in nursing, epidemiology, public health or related field of study and at least 1 year of relevant experience. Maintains professional knowledge and skills through attendance at professional meetings, workshops, courses, and in-service sessions.
