Job Summary
The Safety & Security Pool Monitor is a position held by a professional responsible for checking guests into the hotel pool area, communicating with them, answering their questions about the aquatic facilities, explaining and enforcing rules and regulations, and identifying potentially dangerous behaviors.
Responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent required and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license for the applicable state.
- CPR/First Aid and AED certification is a plus
- Able to work a flexible schedule
- Follow detailed procedures
- Have excellent customer service skills.
- Able to work collegially and independently without intensive supervision
- Must work well in stressful high pressure situations.
- Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Safety & Security Pool Monitor is expected to display a positive, friendly, and outgoing attitude towards all guests/customers and fellow employees.
- Engage with guests to ensure they follow the rules and regulations for a safe and pleasant stay.
- Check each guest as they enter the pool area for appropriate documentation and ensure they are authorized to be there.
- Secures guests information and protects privacy.
- Will include some light cleaning and/or extensive cleaning, depending on shift. Assist with maintaining wet floors, picking up towels and similar during shift.
- The Safety & Security Pool Monitor should warn violators of rule infractions and eject persons disturbing resort guests' peaceful and pleasant experience.
- Able to calm guests and visitors in emergent, emotional, or stressful situations.
- Retain and relay information received under stressful conditions, respond to calls quickly and calmly, and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Patrol resort pool areas to detect and report unsafe conditions and missing or inoperative safety equipment.
- Monitor and respond to pool door alarms and maintain wristband control.
- Check bags for banned items, such as glasses, outside food, or drinks.
- Should liaise with responding law enforcement officials and fire and medical resources.
- Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing a proper uniform and name tag.
- Maintain communication between the front desk, food and beverage, and maintenance of any issues needing attention.
- Handle items for "lost and found" according to standards
- Assist with intoxicated guests.
- Since it is paramount, safeguarding guest information is of utmost importance. As such, it is incumbent upon the individual to ensure the privacy and security of such information is always upheld. Furthermore, maintaining a clean and organized work area is expected, with the required cleaning commensurate with the shift's demands. Finally, any other reasonable tasks requested by the manager are to be performed as part of the individual's duties.
