This position is responsible for leading a shift in performing their job responsibilities of production operators, and ensuring the safe and efficient production of consistently high quality products according to the production plan and customer requirements. This role will assist the Production Supervisor as directed.
- Direct the shift's operators and manage the production schedule in the absence of the Production Supervisor
- Follow all standard operating procedures and exercises good judgment and initiative in making decisions regarding the daily operations of the facility.
- Coordinate operations among production operators for safe and efficient manufacturing with minimum down-time.
- Train new team members in safe operating procedures and provides feedback to the Production Supervisor of operating technicians’ training and development
- Document and communicate downtime, equipment failures and shift notes in appropriate method
- Fill in in different work areas in the absence of the shift’s team members
- Work to improve and maintain site housekeeping.
- Work to maintain positive employee morale; leading by example and acting as a resource for team members.
- Actively participate in SMART and other safety programs.
- Developing and maintaining an effectively trained plant workforce and maintaining a positive relationship with the workforce.
- Responsible for the safe and efficient daily operations of his/her production team.
- Contributes to solutions of problems relating to products and processes.
- Ensures that plant goals for safety and housekeeping are achieved.
- Provides direction and training for Production Operators
- Other related tasks and duties as directed
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have the legal right to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship now or in the future for employment visa status
- Must have a High school diploma or comparable certification (e.g. GED)
- Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.
- Must be able to work overtime with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must have at least one (1) year of experience working with machinery in a manufacturing environment
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience with continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc.
- Experience using MS Office Products (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
- Three or more years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree, pursuing a degree, or willingness to pursue a degree
- Proven customer service, adaptability, and communication skills
- Proven ability to partner with others and earn their trust to ensure meeting the team's goals.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage one's time and resources to ensure tasks are completed efficiently
