Description
We are currently looking for a leader to lead our Device Cloud initiative. We are part of a reputed medical device incubator, with multiple medical devices in development that are looking to expand their cloud and AI roadmaps. The Director, Device Cloud will lead Shifamed’s efforts in accelerating cloud and AI approaches across Shifamed’s portfolio of startups, acting as the internal champion for all things cloud and AI, while leading a multi-site multi-specialty team of expert engineers.
Responsibilities, Skills & Hands-On Experience
- Lead and manage on-shore and off-shore software development and DevOps teams.
- Act as the customer-facing leader for various internal cloud and AI initiatives.
- Guide architecture, development, and operations across local and remote teams to enable quick turn development and support.
- Coordinate across Shifamed’s portfolio companies to synchronize cloud and AI development initiatives and optimize cross-portfolio success.
- Help develop and implement software compliance policies and procedures that encompass IEC 62304, AAMI TIR 45, FDA guidance, HIPAA, GDPR, and HITECH requirements as needed.
- Demonstrated success in leading development of Cloud and AI solutions.
- Experience working in a medical device/Software as a Medical Device development environment, or Hospital Information Systems development environment, with cloud elements included.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Track record of leading and scaling multi-specialty technical teams, with particular emphasis on various cloud technologies, Machine Learning, Security, and DevOps.
- Full life-cycle software product development experience (cradle-to-grave).
- Demonstrated leadership in scaling and managing offshore and on-shore teams and driving and leveraging synchronization across time zones.
- Hands-on experience building applications that meet HIPAA/GDPR and related security requirements.
- Working knowledge of cloud security and certifications.
Preferred Skills & Hands-On Experience
- Experience building Internet-of-Things (IoT) architectures and applications.
- Familiarity with common firmware architecture.
- Experience taking cloud architectures through HIPAA/GDPR audits and security certifications.
Education & Work Experience
- BS in CE, CS or a related discipline.
- 12 years’ work experience, with at least 5 in management of software for medical devices.
- Experience in a venture-funded fast-paced development environment.
- Preferred: Advanced degree in an engineering discipline.
- Experience connecting class II and class III medical devices to cloud applications.
- Experience building Medical Device Data Systems or Hospital Information Systems (such as PACS, EMR’s, etc.).
Our salary ranges are calculated by role and level. Your position within that range will be determined by your job-related knowledge, skills, experience, relevant education, and training/certifications. In addition to those factors, we also examine internal equity as well as consider current market rate, and title may be assessed one level lower or higher accordingly. After you join the company your performance, contributions, and results along with business and organizational needs will affect your base salary. The base salary range for this full-time position is between $200,000 to $220,000 equity benefits.
