Electrical Division
Since the early 1990s, Shimmick has been self-performing mechanical, electrical and plumbing scopes for civil projects. Shimmick offers MEP expertise in transit, water/wastewater, alternative energy, power generation and transmission civil work, as well as commercial building projects. This division’s ability to self-perform offers additional value to clients and enables better control of cost and schedule for projects with major MEP scopes. The MEP division serves clients which include municipalities, water districts, sanitation districts, transit agencies, private developers, DOTs, and USACE.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for engineering design and modification activities related to electrical & electronic circuits, systems, and equipment. May involve the installation and operation & maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
- Discipline concerning power systems, electronic and transmission equipment, electric service and supply systems, lighting systems, communication service and supply systems, fire alarm and detection systems, control systems or electrical installations.
- An electrical engineer focuses on designing, maintaining and improving products that are powered by or produce electricity. Electrical engineering deals with electricity, electro-magnetism and electronics. It also covers power, control systems, telecommunications and signal processing. These engineers are usually concerned with large-scale electrical systems such as motor control and power transmission, as well as utilizing electricity to transmit energy.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to understand P&ID’s, Control Schematics, Electrical single-line drawings, and system (I&C, Fire Alarm, HVAC Control, Security) drawings.
- Experience in heavy civil construction projects
- Concrete structures, MSE Walls, Rail, Transit, and/or Wastewater project experience
- Experience in AutoCAD

The salary range for this position is between $,000.00 - ,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
