The Associate Director, Product and Corporate Communications will report to the Director, Corporate Communications and will lead the development and implementation of integrated Product and Corporate Communications. For consideration, candidates must have exceptional written and verbal communications skills, deep knowledge of pharmaceutical industry standards and regulations, exemplary project management skills and be able to demonstrate consistently sound professional judgement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute product and corporate communications programs from start to finish including formulating creative concepts based on business needs, developing high-quality proposals to secure internal support and managing projects strategically and tactically from conception to reporting.
- Partner with communications and marketing colleagues in Europe and Asia to develop and execute coordinated global communications programs for an investigational medicine, including managing multiple time zones and different regional priorities.
- Strong capacity to write, edit and secure approval for a range of communications materials including press releases, website content, social media content, internal communications, key messages and Q&As with strong attention to detail and minimal oversight
- Develop, maintain and manage relationships with reporters, patient advocates and KOLs
- Serve as a strategic communications partner to the product brand teams
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with medical, legal and regulatory colleagues as well as leadership
- Identify potential brand-related issues and develop proactive issues-management strategies
- Manage communication agencies and budgets
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline required
- Minimum of seven (7) years in public relations, corporate communications and/or business unit communications preferably at a pharmaceutical or biotech company or a public relations firm
- Experience working on FDA approvals and new product launches
- Experience with internal communications including event planning
- Experience developing corporate social media strategies and implementing social media programs
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical, commercial, manufacturing and regulatory environment
- Exemplary project management and organizational skills with ability to prioritize deliverables and be accountable for multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills, including an ability to combine attention to detail with big-picture perspectives
- Ability to develop successful working relationships and serve as a subject matter expert with senior executives
- Ability to develop relationships across the U.S. and global organization across levels and functional areas
- Excellent judgment and professional maturity
- Exceptional written, oral and visual communication skills
- Proficiency with Veeva and Microsoft Office (including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Proactive, detail-oriented, motivated, enthusiastic, curious mindset
- Position may require up to 15-20% domestic travel
- Must live a commutable distance to our US Corporate Headquarters in Florham Park, NJ. Office presence required 50% of working days per month.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience in infectious disease and rare disease
- Proficiency with media strategy and media relations
- Understanding of the U.S. regulatory pathways and clinical study design
- Experience launching new products in the U.S.
- Ability to own projects and work both collaboratively and independently
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to articulate clearly and conduct verbal presentations with large and small audiences.
- Ability to travel via automobile and/or airplane.
- Ability to view video display terminal images < 18” away from face for extended period of time – up to four (4) hours at a time.
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard and telephone.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time – up to four (4) hours at a time.
- Ability to lift, tug, pull up to fifteen (15) pounds.
