What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Lab Technician position at Shoals?
Duties and Responsibilities:
This is a general guide to the position and may not be inclusive of all responsibilities, expectations and conditions that arise during employment.
- Perform verification testing on wires, enclosures, and components as directed by an engineer.
- Perform certification testing in accordance with applicable standards (UL, NEC, etc).
- Assemble enclosures under the direction of an engineer.
- Identify and purchase laboratory equipment as required.
- Write test reports and file them electronically.
- Ensure that all laboratory equipment is calibrated per the calibration schedule.
- Assist manufacturing in identifying and setting up new equipment.
- Coordinate sourcing activities in design changes (ECN) and New Product Development (NPD)
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- 2 -4 years in a laboratory environment preferred
- Computer literate, knowledge of Datalogger Pro, or other laboratory software for monitoring testing.
- Knowledge of basic electricity and circuitry.
- Ability to read drawings and electrical schematics.
- Ability to weld, braze and solder preferred.
- 2 year technical or associates degree in mechanical or electrical technology preferred.
- Experience can be substituted for education.
