Field Services Technician
On-Site Green Bay, WI
POSITION SUMMARY:
Diagnose and repair optical equipment. Ensure all preventive maintenance is completed. Set up optical equipment for new, remodel/relocation and newly acquired optical centers. Install Tele-Optometry equipment. Travel extensively to service, maintain, and install optical equipment at Shopko Optical centers nationwide.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
OPTICAL CENTER EQUIPMENT
- Diagnose and repair center optical equipment in person or by phone
- Perform routine preventive maintenance
- Ship and receive loaner equipment
- Set up optical equipment for new, remodel/relocation and newly acquired centers
- Install Tele-Optometry equipment at specified centers
- Respond to equipment emergencies and determine course of action
- Order parts as needed
- Check in and restock parts
- Communicate with vendors to follow up on parts orders and equipment diagnosis
- Return warranty and/or defective equipment or parts to vendors
- Document all repair and maintenance actions
TRAINING AND IMPROVEMENT
- Attend training classes for new equipment
- Engage in on-going training with Field Service Lead
- Remain current on new product information
- Review technical manuals on a consistent basis
- Learn to prioritize responsibilities to ensure exceptional internal and external customer service
MAINTAIN SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Follow all company and center policies and guidelines
- Adhere to safety guidelines and OSHA regulations
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Complete and submit field service reports on a daily basis
- Complete and submit weekly expense reports according to Shopko Optical policies and procedures
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- College degree in electronics, computer technology or equivalent work experience preferred
- 2 years of equipment maintenance and installation experience
- Preferably 2-3 years field service experience with extensive travel
- Proven ability to repair sophisticated equipment
- Optical experience a plus, but not required
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, data entry, etc.)
- Strong written and oral communication skills

- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Valid Driver’s License
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORK REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization through written and two-way verbal communication
- Able to read and write at a high school graduate level
- Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Able to operate various office equipment and center optical equipment
- Demonstrate physical agility (bending, climbing, twisting, squatting, lifting, pushing, reaching, etc.) on a repetitive basis
- Ability to lift an average of 25-35 pounds on a repetitive basis and up to 75 pounds
- Ability to operate a pallet jack
- Ability to see (Near, Distance, Color, and Depth Perception)
- Manual and finger dexterity, as well as hand/arm steadiness
- Ability to grip and hold items
- Good eye and hand coordination
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Able to work normal and/or extended (evenings, nights, and weekends) hours to meet established deadlines
- Able to travel independently to support Company objectives and personal development
- Ability to travel 75% of the time (auto, airline, overnight, etc.)
