Job Summary:
The Flooring & Furnishings Supervisor will supervise all aspects of the flooring and furnishings department including flooring - carpet and hard surfaces, rugs, and upholstery services. The supervisor will provide estimates and consultations for clients; organize work processes for efficiency and quality assurance; screen, hire, and evaluate flooring technicians; be responsible for departmental safety, growth, customer service, and financial performance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Guides, assigns, schedules, and supervises the work of the flooring and furnishing department and ensures work is completed.
- Provides job evaluations based on performance and goals set by General Manager in a timely and constructive manner.
- Recommends promotions and salary increases based on observed job performance.
- Implements disciplinary and termination steps as necessary and according to company policy.
- Ensures all employees within scope of responsibility follow all safety standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Directs, administers and controls the day-to-day operations and activities of the flooring and furnishing department which includes the following services professional carpet cleaning, stain removal, upholstery, hard surface floors – stripping, waxing, and buffing.
- Responsible for proper handling of all chemicals as well as following proper infection control policies and proper PPE use.
- Demonstrates knowledge of equipment used to clean floors and can identify mechanical issues with the equipment to be reported timely and appropriately.
- Provides leadership, support and guidance for department as well as the company overall.
- Ensures compliance with established company and regulatory guidelines and procedures to provide high quality service and outstanding customer care.
- Engages in planning for service line budget and strives to reach financial targets.
- Actively pursues performance measures i.e. safety, productivity, growth, customer service, etc.
- Represents Shoup’s Cleaning in a positive manner; is able to lead as well as follow instructions, is pleasant, tactful, courteous and cooperative with co-workers and clients.
- Coaches team members in regards to performance, adherence to processes, and conflict resolutions utilizing both praise and disciplinary measures as needed.
- Responsible for departmental education including safety training.
- Leads and participates in department problem-solving and performance improvement initiatives.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of trade including materials, methods, tools, and extraction.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- IICRC Certifications preferred (Could include: CCMT – Commercial Carpet Maintenance Technician, CCT – Carpet Cleaning Technician, FCT – Floor Care Technician, LCT – Leather Cleaning Technician, OCT – Odor Control Technician, RCT – Rug Cleaning Technician, RRT – Carpet Repair and Reinstallation Technician, UFT – Upholstery and Fabric Cleaning Technician.)
- At least five years of related work experience required.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, hear and talk.
- The employee is required to drive or ride in a cleaning/carpet truck or other vehicle.
- The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
