Job Overview:
Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a Maintenance Technician.
Responsibilities:
Seeking skilled trades candidate to maintain building operations to provide corrective and preventative maintenance.
Performs General Maintenance
- Possesses basic knowledge of other trades.
- Keeps job work site areas free of hazards, cordons off hazardous work areas in public and patient care areas.
- Understands and exhibits knowledge of departmental and hospital emergency procedures.
- Properly uses hospital safety and personal protective equipment.
- Consistently enters any information, problems, or events that are pertinent to the operation of the Maintenance Department in the Maintenance log book.
- Operates and uses hospital equipment and tools with care and in accordance with operating instructions.
- Cleans work site areas upon completion of jobs, keeps assigned work areas neat, clean and free of hazards.
- Responds promptly to general maintenance service calls and completes work as required.
- Performs other tasks not requiring skilled training, such as changing light bulbs, changing charts, adjusting controls, etc. as well as minor repairs throughout the building. Responds to general maintenance service calls promptly and efficiently.
Performs a variety of duties related to the upkeep and maintenance of interior and exterior surfaces of the building utilizing proper PPE.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of painting preparation, application and cleanup of tools and equipment including correctly identifying and using solvents and cleaners to prepare surfaces for application of paint and or stains; properly masking off adjacent areas to protect from over spray, and blocking off areas where painting is taking place and do so as required; and utilizing wet paint signage as needed.
- Safely operates power tools for metal, concrete, wood, interior, and exterior building maintenance project utilizing proper protective equipment (PPE) for self and others including vendors and staff.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of interior, exterior surface maintenance to include tile repair, carpet replacement, locksmithing, and door maintenance following hospital infection control procedures and fire life safety guidelines.
Performs a variety of duties related to trouble call, corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, Biomedical equipment maintenance, and special project assignments within the assigned timeframe.
- Completes work orders within assigned timeframe. Communicates with requestors following the AIDET protocol. Notifies supervisor for procurement of parts immediately.
- Completes assigned preventative maintenance (PM) work orders during the assignment period following priority guidelines. Documents all discrepancies identified during PM and completes repairs immediately. Finishes all related paperwork and submits to the supervisor by assigned completion date.
- Completes corrective maintenance (CM) work orders within assigned time frame. Communicates with co-workers, staff and the public when coordinating work orders and projects in their respective work areas, keeps disruption and impact to a minimum; informs job requestor on expected completion time; informs requestor of delays (such as parts on order and estimated delivery time), with follow-up information as appropriate.
- Coordinates biomedical work request with vendors. Completes safety checks and repairs non-medical and medical equipment.

Education
High School diploma or GED
Experience
2 years’ experience in trade or maintenance position
Previous experience in healthcare environment preferred
