Dental Assistant

Dental assistant job duties include:

• Assist dentist or hygienist chairside
• Type clinical notes
• Input data to computer system
• Help patients to feel comfortable
• Sterilization of instruments
• Ordering supplies
• Answer the phone, scheduling patients, help with front desk as needed
• Cross training with front desk

Shroyer Family Dental is located at 217 E Monroe St in Mount Pleasant, IA 52641 and our current hours of operation are:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8am to 5pm (lunch from 1-2pm)

Wednesday 8am to 2pm (no lunch)

Friday 8am-2pm (every other Friday is off, no lunch)

We are very excited for our new schedule starting September 9, 2024:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 7am to 3pm (no lunch)

Fridays will generally be off except for occasional large treatment plans that require more time, this responsibility will be rotated amongst all assistants.

In general, staff are expected to arrive before clinic starts to prepare for the day and may be required to work overtime occasionally.

Qualifications:

• Attention to detail is very important
• Registered dental assistant is preferred but not required
• X-Ray Certification is preferred but not required
• Continuous on the job training will be provided
• Strong work ethic
• Willing to learn new things and receive constructive feedback
• Excellent communicator
• Team player
• Must be a people-person

• Step 1: Submit separate documents for each: resume, cover letter and three professional reference contact information (no relatives)
• Step 2: Phone interview
• Step 3: In-person interview and job shadow
• Step 4: 90 day probationary period

**For applicants who are not a registered dental assistant please note below:

• Dental trainee status starts once employment begins and ends at 12 months of employment.
• Dental trainee is required by state law to become registered by 12 months.
• The process to become registered involves passing exam content at a community college in Iowa over the following material: Iowa jurisprudence, Infection control and hazardous materials and Dental radiography (x-rays).
• Shroyer Family Dental will provide a textbook and workbook to be completed by the trainee prior to becoming registered.
• Shroyer Family Dental will provide onsite training for everything that is needed to be successful as a dental assistant.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 36 per week
