What are we looking for?

The Electrician will install and maintain the electrical wiring, fixtures, and systems in buildings.

Essential Functions 

The Facility Electrician has hands-on responsibility to maintain the facilities and campus in a safe, clean, secure, and properly functioning condition, while ensuring that the overall condition of the property is above standard.

Responsibilities include:

• · Installs and repairs electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures in buildings.
• · Installs conduits and pipes to house electrical wires and cables.
• · Ensures piping complies with electrical codes.
• · Installs circuit breakers and other electrical hardware and connects wiring to them.
• · Tests electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation.
• · Inspects electrical systems to determine whether repairs are needed.
• · Replaces conduit and wiring as needed.
• · Replaces circuit breakers as needed.
• · Performs other related duties as assigned.
• · Remaining responsible for all appearance, of properties that are assigned.
• · Working closely and collaboratively with staff, security, and administration all to support the smooth workings of the school.
• · Handling any and all responsibilities as needed and required

Experience and Capabilities

• · Ability to read blueprints.
• · Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring.
• · Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
• · Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment.
• · Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• · Completion of a formal apprenticeship and or valid electrician’s license required.
• · Adhere to all health and safety requirements
• · Flexibility with work schedule as required.
• · Willing to work overtime as required
• · Must be able to follow basic safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks
• · Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• · Ability to understand and simple instructions and operate proactively and independently
• · Excellent organizational and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail, with an ability to complete all assigned tasks as scheduled
• · Must be a self-starter with the ability to adhere to procedures
• · Valid driver’s license and good driving record

Work Environment

The work is regularly performed in a combination with the office site buildings and throughout the external grounds, and can be exposed to among other things, the environment, dust, odors, oil and noise.

Physical Demands

• Workday regularly includes multiple or conflicting demands, deadlines and time pressures; Work may require sustained concentration, considerable physical effort or manual dexterity.
• Sufficient vision (with correction) to read and to observe more distant objects.
• Requires the ability to understand and follow oral and/or written instructions. Requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs, dexterity to use tools related to job, and working with cleaning solutions. Requires walking, standing, climbing, reaching overhead and bending.

What are the nature and scope of independent decisions made in this position?

Must be able to perform responsibilities as assigned, and remain proactive in identifying situations requiring correction/handling.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position Monday – Friday 8am-4pm. The position may require work during nonstandard hours whenever the need or demand arises.

Hourly rate: $22/hr to $25/hr
