The Fixed Asset Accountant is be responsible for recording and maintaining timely and accurate financial information related to the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets, tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets. This role is best suited for an ambitious change-agent, who likes to find ways to scale and improve.
This position will also provide support to the internally-developed software accounting team, which utilizes the fixed asset accounting system.

What You'll Do Here:
Daily review of Accounts Payable transactions posted to Fixed Asset clearing account to identify valid capital assets. This includes but is not limited to ensuring the information on the purchase order and invoice documentation match. -
Communications with business owners to identify additional required data elements for the accurate setup and creation of capital assets.

Prepare the asset creation and adjustment templates for posting to the Fixed Asset sub ledger system. This includes appropriately classifying asset types and determining useful life per company policy.
Identify and prepare monthly transfers/disposals, impairments of assets and process transaction into the FA sub-ledger. -
Prepare month end journal entries and account reconciliations for Fixed Asset related accounts.

Ensure SOX compliance and adherence to internal controls in the performance of daily activities.

Assist with external audits for quarterly review and annual audit related to areas of responsibility.

Provide support for SEC filings and other external reporting requests.

Assist in the continual review of current processes for efficiency improvements, improved uses of accounting systems, and enhancements in business support service levels.
The Skills You'll Bring:
Education
BA/BS in Accounting required
Experience
Experience with SAP ERP a plus
It is helpful, but not required to have:

Broad understanding of GAAP

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills

Attention to detail and high level of accuracy required

Able to adapt to changing priorities/duties

Strong follow through skills to ensure issues are resolved timely

Highly proficient in MS Excel
