Human Resources Site Manager

Schedule:

5x2, 4x3 - 9-hour days


Job Responsibilities and Duties:

At Sibanye-Stillwater, the Human Resources (HR) Site Manager will support and provide a high level of service to operations encompassing a diverse range of disciplines including production, maintenance, and professional staff. You will directly supervise HR employees. This position has responsibility for the entire employee life cycle. The role requires expertise in a broad range of HR functions including administration of Company policies and programs, benefits, collective bargaining agreements, disciplinary actions, grievance procedures, unemployment compensation, interviewing, training, and employee records. There is also a focus on providing site management with coaching, development, and investigative counsel. The ability to develop relationships for coaching and mentoring of current and future leaders in the organization is necessary.


The HR Site Manager's primary duties are:


Operational Leadership:

  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organizational and site-specific Human Resource and workforce planning strategies particularly as they relate to employee and labor relations, current and future talent needs, retention, and succession planning.
  • Understands the state of the workforce culture through data analytics and personal connections and communicates underlying concerns and opportunities with site and HR leadership.
  • Recognizes the importance of building relationships and works closely with union leadership to interpret collective bargaining agreements and create a cooperative and equitable work environment. The HR manager should be the site subject matter expert on the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
  • Creates and fosters, in collaboration with site leadership, an environment of diversity, equity and inclusivity in the workplace and actively seek feedback from the workforce for continuous improvements.
  • Represent the Company and its values to all employees; serving as a role model for the workforce.
  • Collaborate cross functionally across all departments and advise site leadership as needed


Safety and Environmental Compliance:

  • Assist in driving safety improvement by promoting a proactive safety culture.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment, safe work practices, and a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure that Environmental Excellence is practiced with in area of responsibility.


Team Management:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and ensures training of new staff in the department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow and deliverables of the department.
  • Provides constructive coaching and timely performance management feedback and evaluations.
  • Provides support and guidance to HR generalists, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute tasks in sensitive circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations, and assisting in the administration of discipline.


Budget and Cost Control:

  • Prepare, implement, and maintain departmental budget.
  • Responsible to approve departmental spend and document accrual of spend, as necessary.


Technical Oversight:

  • Supports and participates in the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers and recruitment staff to understand expectations, including skills and competencies, required for openings.
  • Supports and collaborates with HR Shared Services team on initiatives involving recruitment and workforce planning, policies, benefits, compensation, and organizational development.
  • Oversees and ensures consistency, equity and respect in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains knowledge and ensures HR staff is apprised of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and modern technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain
  • Adheres to the US PGM Operations HR Code of Ethics
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven ability to create and lead an effective team.
  • Effective planning, priority setting and time management.
  • Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously in an interruptive environment while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Foster inclusivity by recognizing and encouraging the perspectives of all participants and leading
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with labor relations, negotiations, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Able to communicate succinctly and effectively as a part of site Senior Management; strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal laws pertaining to employment, labor, and HR policies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems), payroll, and other employee management software.

  • Developing, administering, and assessing human resources programs


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 10 years' relevant experience in related field such as compensation, benefits, recruiting, payroll, HRIS, management development training, and compliance).
  • Minimum 3 years HR supervisory or manager experience
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
  • Or any combination of the above
