POSITION: * *Seasonal Home Garden Program Assistant

JOB SUMMARY: The HG Program Assistant will be hands-on in helping coordinate the contract gardeners and intern team for the Home Garden Project. This position will be mostly outdoors and travel across the communities in the company van. They will use gardening equipment to build 65 family gardens in the communities that includes; picking up and delivering starter plants, seeds, garden tools, following up communication with families. This position will start asap and end July 5, 2024.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• This is a labor heavy position that includes measuring, plowing, raking, shoveling, and weeding family gardens to prepare them for planting (families will do their own planting).
• Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of home garden programs and events.
• Assist in the coordination of a small team of contract gardeners and interns.
• Engage with community members to promote the home garden program and recruit participants.
• Assist in the development and delivery of gardening education.
• Keep accurate records of program activities, participant feedback, and garden progress.
• Assist in the procurement and organization of gardening materials, tools, and supplies.
• Work closely with program coordinators, volunteers, and community partners to ensure the success of the home garden program.
• Perform various administrative duties as needed, such as scheduling meetings, responding to inquiries, and preparing reports.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have reliable transportation to/from office.
• Must have driver's license.
• Familiar with basic gardening tools and open to learning more.
• Comfortable working outdoors.
• Lift 25lbs

COMPENSATION:

This is a contract position from M-TH 8:00am to 5:00pm (32 hours per week) and be compensated $20 per hour with lunch provided.
