The Siemens Government Technologies, Inc (SGT) Internship Program enables college students to explore stimulating career possibilities in the government contracting environment. As an intern of Siemens Government Technologies, you will be given individual and group assignments that are designed to provide you with experience in a corporate environment and develop your business acumen.
SGT’s Proposal team is looking for a Technical Writing intern, that will focus on developing proposal content, establishing past performance library entries, and improving our personnel reference library. Just as importantly, the candidate will have an ongoing opportunity to engage with proposal professionals and have meaningful conversations that can influence future career decisions.
Job Description:
Working with Proposal Managers and Proposal Coordinators, the Technical Writer Intern will write proposal content based on Request for Proposal or Solicitation requirements. This work may also include preparing past performance write-ups and updating personnel resumes. Work is created within a demanding timeframe, and requires you to work with matrixed teams throughout the company to complete the content before a deadline.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with team members to determine writing objectives
- Compiling all relevant research using a variety of sources (interviews, past proposals, internet searches, and your own creativity)
- Creating outlines of writing and revising based on feedback
- Writing, editing, proofing, formatting, and finalizing content for inclusion in proposals or other documents
- Coordinating elements of proposals to ensure compliance with instructions
- Developing and update company capability statements
- Supporting the development of responses to government RFI and source sought notices
- Handling production and printing, if needed
Qualifications:
- Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher preferred
- Rising junior or above
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Writing, Humanities, or a related field
- Proposal course work will be given preference
- Excellent researching and interviewing skills
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Tech-savvy with the ability to maintain and organize electronic files
- Team player with the ability to collaborate with all members
- Critical thinking/analysis skills, ability to gather information, identify trends, and communicate results
- Excellent Microsoft Office Skills
- Willingness to take a hands-on approach to proposal production
Security Requirement:
- Candidate must be a United States Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
