This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Principal Biostatistician, Real World Evidence, you will be responsible for:

  1. Developing and applying RWE strategies, in collaboration with internal and external partners, to demonstrate value of key medical diagnostic products. Developing and innovating solutions to novel clinical science problems that utilize real-world data and/or post-hoc analysis of clinical trials.
  2. Working cross-functionally with internal and external partners to deliver scientifically and statistically valid evidence obtained from registrational and non-registrational studies.
  3. Serving as a subject matter expert in statistical analysis of RWE. Ensuring development of rigorous study designs and analysis plans, define clear and attainable statistical and scientific endpoints that demonstrate value locally and globally; determine best ways to present data to maximize interpretation and value to customers.
  4. Providing end-to-end biostatistical support for RWE studies, inclusive of study plans, analyses, reports, and manuscript preparation.
  5. Communicating findings to internal and external partners, regulatory and scientific communities; preparing manuscripts and publications; participating in internal and external meetings or forums to present insights.
  6. Contributing to external engagements with collaborators, consultants, thought leaders, advisory boards, congresses, and scientific meetings.
  7. Staying current with advances in RWE statistical methods, applications, and regulatory requirements.

  • Work with collaborators and other personnel independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Possess a solid understanding of the purpose, objectives, and goals of collaborative clinical research.
  • Collaborate with investigators to develop and perform statistical analyses of data from investigational protocols, post-hoc projects, and registry databases.
  • Study planning, statistical programming and analysis, interpretation and writing of results.
  • Prepare manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations for scientific meetings.
  • Informal teaching and clear communication with collaborators and key stakeholders regarding clinical research study statistics.

Required skills to have for the success of this role

  • Ph.D. or M.S.  in Biostatistics and/or Epidemiology with at least 10 years relevant experience.
  • Prefer at least 6 years of that experience be within medical diagnostic industry or biomarker research and development.
  • Demonstrated experience with application of Real-World Data (RWE) to early-stage clinical development, improving efficiency of clinical trials, and safety monitoring.
  • Experience supporting development of observational clinical research studies, including protocols, statistical analysis plans, and study reports.
  • Experience conducting post-hoc analyses of clinical trial data and other RWD sources (e.g. electronic medical records, product and disease registries) and with statistical analysis techniques associated with RWD problems (e.g. Propensity Score Methods, Bayesian Heirarchical Modeling).
  • Strong knowledge and experience with clinical and laboratory data management systems (eDC, LIMS) and statistical programming (R or SAS).
