What are the responsibilities and job description for the Remote VP of Aerospace & Defense EDA Strategy position at Siemens?

We are seeking a driven, results-oriented, independent-thinking individual who enjoys multi-tasking in a fast-paced, challenging, government-facing sales environment.  In this position you will be responsible for identifying, shaping, and capturing "disruptive" new business opportunities between the US Aerospace and Defense market (including the US Government) and Siemens EDA’s Electronic Design Automation products for developing critical defense microelectronic systems.

The Vice President of Aerospace and Defense EDA Strategy works in a strategic business development role, coordinating between the various US Government entities and their eco-system; including OSD-A&S, OSD-R&E, Air Force, Navy, Army, Space Force DMEA, DARPA, IARPA, Intelligence Community, prime contractors, and academia, to bring new EDA solutions to the US Aerospace and Defense market. An in-depth knowledge and understanding of key players, government programs and executives, and government funding is paramount. In this position you will work closely with a diverse set of individuals from CXOs, VPs, Directors, Chief Engineers of Programs/Engineering/Manufacturing from our customers but also Siemens Digital Industries and Digital Industries Software executives, sales teams, internal product development, and marketing teams to develop multi-level business plans for the growth and development of Siemens EDA’s US Aerospace and Defense business. Developing these plans will require knowledge of EDA products and flows, digital engineering concepts and solutions, and US Government security concerns and priorities. The candidate must possess strong sales, communication, collaboration, and program management skills. Travel will be required.

Additional responsibilities for Siemens EDA’s Aerospace and Defense include:

  • Work with the Siemens US Govt team to develop overall capture strategies, internal and external partnerships, and frame business execution plans
  • Facilitate winning strategy development sessions including technical, management, teaming, staffing, marketing, business models etc.
  • Collaborate with Divisional Leadership and Technical SMEs to develop solutions that offer customers recognized value, are price and value competitive, executable and will be evaluated favorably
  • Develop strategies and motivations for integrating Siemens’s products and solutions to address US Government requirements and strategies
  • Leverage established industry contacts & relationships

The Vice President of Aerospace and Defense EDA Strategy will identify and develop opportunities for funding Siemens EDA in Research, Prototype and Production programs sponsored by the US Government. This includes working with Siemens EDA Product divisions and the Sales organization to develop and facilitate execution of holistic, targeted strategies to increase business volume and strategic presence in US Government programs which can be leveraged into broader Siemens EDA markets.

This person in this position will also leverage and grow Customer, US Government. and industry relationships with influencers and decision maker. This position requires an understanding of the business challenges, technical needs, timing, and access to funding across a broad range of government requirements.

Qualifications

  • 15 years of Federal, DoD business development, capture, and/or operational experience with a proven track record of success in developing a robust pipeline and generating new business opportunities
  • Minimum 20 years of experience within EDA, semiconductor or aerospace and defense companies is required, having held senior leadership positions for five or more years
  • Established contacts within major customers in the DoD and Intelligence Community, e.g., OSD, OSD-A&S, OSD-R&E, Air Force (AFRL, SMC…), Navy (NSWC, NWIC, NRL, ONR…), Army (AvMC, MDA, ARL…), Space Force, DARPA, IARPA, NSA, NRO and the defense industrial base of prime/sub-contractors
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with senior executives at government agencies and/or major prime contractors, as well as commercial companies.
  • Knowledge of the Pentagon, DoD budgeting processes in the US Government
  • Strong understanding of federal acquisition regulations, policies, and contract vehicles
  • Experience working with DoD prime system contractors/integrators
  • MSEE/BSEE with 15 years electronic design desired
  • Understanding of EDA ASIC/FPGA design and verification flows through semiconductor design, fabrication, and packaging
  • Able to conceive, write and deliver relevant conceptual or technical presentations to industry conferences, tradeshows and events, Industry name recognition desired
  • Strong business acumen and strategic analysis experience
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Track record of delivering on complex problems without guidance
  • Employees of Siemens Government Technologies may be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with the workplace safety protocols for Federal contractors and subcontractors pursuant to Executive Order 14042 or state/local laws and regulations

  • Washington, DC Metro Area; Locations near relevant US Government facilities and other locations will be considered
