Systems Administrator

Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

NASA Johnson Space Center's satellite facility White Sands Test Facility is seeking a System Administrator to join our team supporting global aerospace and defense industry propulsion testing. Candidates are expected to work in an engaging, high-energy environment, work independently and as a team, and be self-motivated with a strong work ethic.

The systems administrator is responsible for providing support at a desktop, server, and networking level have a solid understanding of windows servers and networking concepts.

Works directly with desktop users. Performs S/W installations, network configurations and maintenance. Performs corrective actions for PCs, routers, hubs, switches and other network infrastructure components. Implements network security policies. Responds to security incidents. Provides end-user training as necessary for LAN operating system and applications. Keeps Propulsion Computer Engineering (PCE) Lead advised of on-going operations, events and problems. Performs other duties as assigned based on operational needs and customer requirements. Responsible for system security and data integrity. Assigns passwords, monitors use of resources, backs up files as required, and responds to management.

Implements and maintains complex information systems. Analyzes detailed systems factors, including input and output requirements, information flow, H/W and S/W requirements and alternative methods of problem resolution. Works with users to define existing or new system scope and objectives. Performs modifications to and maintenance of operational programs and procedures. Assists users in the operation of the application. Provides guidance to and technical direction less experienced admins.

Architecture definition, design, development, implementation and administration of automated data management systems, software and related processes to increase user productivity in database and network environments.

May also perform other duties associated within area of responsibility as directed management.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field and a minimum of 2 years' of related experience in the System/Network Administration field.

Certifications:

Current Microsoft desktop certification such as Windows 7/10

Current Microsoft Server certification such as Server 2008/12/19

Provide the following support:

3. System Imaging Assistance
4. System Disposal and Sanitization
5. Switches (may include):
   1. FS
   2. Netgear POE

   4. Juniper

Provide expertise to maintain OS systems operations.

Monitor application/system software and hardware operations.

Perform routine/high-priority system problem identification and high-priority corrective action.

Coordinate system resource availability with database analysts, system and applications programmers, and other users.

Perform system administration and network management/administration responsibilities.

Ensure compliance with electronic and physical security procedures and standards.

Direct and train users.

Provide continuous liaison with users and project staff to identify unique and/or common difficulties and prepare plans for their resolution.

Protect any/all control configuration data as it pertains to security, ensuring proper media protection by controlling and safeguarding all media types containing associated control configurations.

Provide expertise to maintain OS systems security and operations.

Monitor application/system software and hardware operations.

Perform routine/high priority system, problem identification and high-priority corrective action.

Coordinate system resource availability with database analysts, system and applications programmers and other users.

Perform/oversee system administration and network management/administration responsibilities.

Ensure compliance with electronic and physical security procedures and standards.

Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of large hazardous research aerospace test facilities.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from engineering or supervision.

Ability to use own judgment and decisions to allow continuity of work flow.

Must be self-motivated and a "Team Player" with good interpersonal and communication skills.

Must be able to organize time and assignments to prioritize efforts for maximum effectiveness.
