Position Summary:
Entry level position with limited measuring skills. Responsible for learning how to effectively use all basic precision measuring hand tools, micro-heights, comparators, and other gages/equipment used at SIG Sauer Ammo to perform basic to intermediate inspections. Performs a variety of routine limited inspections in both Receiving Inspection and the production process using learned methods, including visual, dimensional, mechanical, optical verification, or functional. Includes operations support; data collection and/or entry; workplace organization and safety.
Primary Responsibilities:
*Support Operations in performing inspection of newly received direct material as part of Receiving Inspection. To document inspection results as necessary and update electronic system, i.e., Oracle as appropriate.
*Work with MRB Coordinator in documenting Non-conforming Materials and ensuring that the material is controlled and quarantined into MRB in accordance with local procedures.
*Work with Operations, Planning, Logistic and Quality team to communicate the status of received material, with relevant data needed to effectively communicate with both internal and external customer and supplier concerning each documented Nonconformance.
*Processing rejected material which could include minor rework or sorting per Quality Management/Engineers direction.
*Occasionally coordinating RTS with Supply Chain, Supplier and operationally assisting Logistics in getting RTS shipments moved out of the building and sent back to suppliers.
*Using the company operating system to generate inquiries, perform movement of material, create job routings and any other function required to perform job duties.
*Seek and act upon ways to improve daily work processes to enhance quality and productivity and satisfy customer needs and expectations; look for cost reduction and service improvements; eliminate unnecessary or low priority work; initiate and encourage others to resolve impediments and act on improvement opportunities.
Other duties as required.
Secondary Responsibilities:
*Participate on problem solving teams for driving to root cause of internal and external quality failures, particularly related to prevention of customer escapes.
*Participate in 5S Workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order through sustainment activities, including requests for maintenance assistance when needed.
Education and/or Experience:
*1 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
*Basic MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint) skills.
*Fundamental knowledge of typical mechanical measurement equipment.
*Rudimentary knowledge of components, assemblies, and product form, fit and function.
*Drawing reading, including working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances a plus.
Working Conditions:
*Able to lift up to 35 pounds.
*Proper PPE is used when required.
