Barista

Sightglass Coffee is opening their new Sightglass Provisions specialty food market in Hollywood in the exciting Media Arts District at the corner of Sycamore and Willoughby Avenues. The market will include a coffee store and cafe, an on-site bakery, an extensive selection of in-house prepared foods, home garden/floral and gift departments, a wine shop and a full line of grocery staples and supplies. We are looking for talented and inspired candidates to join our team!

Overview::

Reporting to the Store Manager, our baristas are responsible for contributing to the distinct, educated, and unmatched coffee experience we strive to provide in and around our cafes. Their responsibilities include assisting in the smooth and seamless operations of the business, reaching store goals, upholding product quality and consistency standards, controlling inventory levels and mitigating waste, maintaining equipment and facilities, and safely handling all of our products and equipment.

Responsibilities::

• Compliant with COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan.
• Deliver an unmatched coffee experience and serve our full range of beverages including espresso, pour over, flash chill, and loose-leaf tea.
• Maintain expert knowledge to educate customers on current offerings including beans, drinks, food, and merchandise.
• Follow manager directives and support team members to anticipate needs, ensure smooth café operations, and uphold our product and service standards.
• Adhere to company policies including but not limited to cash handling, product standards, and hospitality best practices.
• Strives for the highest standards in drinks, customer interaction, attitude and leadership.
• Participate in our internal barista training program and become a Sightglass Alumnus after earning three levels of certification: Level 1, Level 2, and Mentor-Level.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)::

• Demonstrated enthusiastic desire to work with coffee.
• Ability to function and be efficient within a team. 
• Capable of executing multiple tasks at once and remaining composed under stress.
• Possess an exceptional level of customer service and professionalism.
• Maintain an organized and methodical work style.
• Ability to retain coffee specific knowledge of our current offerings, while exhibiting confidence and clarity when communicating product information.
• Possession of a current ServSafe Food Handler’s card and/or acquire certificate.

Physical Demands & Work Environment::

• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and stand for 4 hours
• Ability to maneuver effectively around the café, office, and up/down stairs.
