SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility will be to process, verify, balance, and adjust billing and accounts payable transactions requiring the use of independent judgment. An integral part of this role is liaising with internal project managers, accounts payable and credit and collections coordinators proactively. The timeliness of billing with patients and insurance carriers is vital while maximizing payment amount and turn-around time. Also, a Medical Biller is expected to seek continuous improvements in productivity.
Job Duties & Essential Functions:
- Prepares and processes work in progress and billings to ensure that all client invoices are billed accurately, consistently within client requirements and on a timely basis.
- Reviews and reconciles account balances in work in progress and in accounts receivable.
- Tracks the turnaround times for the billing cycle.
- Processes and records accounts receivable transactions and accesses resubmissions
- Ensures proper approval and allocation of payables
- Codes, enters, reconciles, and balances payables and internal accounting records.
- Researches and resolving billing and accounts payable issues, denials and appeals with external and internal clients
- Productions of weekly patient billing and capability to process weekly surgery
- Supports the members of accounting with accounts payable tasks, billing tasks, accounts receivable tasks, and the development and completion of special projects.
- Handles phone calls compassionately and efficiently
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a teamwork-oriented environment
- Special projects and other duties may be assigned as needed
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Great communication and organization skills
- Evenings and weekends may be required based on the location/office hour
- Medical billing experience with Retina specialty is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree from an accredited college or medical business school is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred but not required
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or ability to speak other languages is desirable
