Holiday Inn Express Waikiki Beach is seeking a Full-Time Bell Person to join our team! Our ideal candidate for this position is thorough, flexible, and dedicated to exceptional guest service.  

The Holiday Inn Express Waikiki is located at the gateway of Waikiki in Honolulu. This 44-storey hotel with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Koolau mountains and Waikiki skyline is just 3 blocks from Waikiki beach and 4 blocks from the Hawaii Convention Center

Essential Job Functions:
  • Maintain efficient traffic patterns in the lobby, especially during group check in and check out.
  • Routinely transport luggage to and from guest rooms and answer phones. 
  • Inspect cleanliness of the hotel entrance, bell closet, and hotel vehicles, if applicable; rectify deficiencies with respective staff.
  • Respond to guest requests promptly; promote hotel services, facilities and outlets; provide guests with information such as local attractions and directions to increase guest satisfaction. 
  • Respond appropriately to guest complaints.  Make appropriate service recovery gestures in order to ensure total guest satisfaction. 
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. 
  • To follow all specified procedures and to provide personal, sincere customer service to guests including but not limited to:
  • Greeting and orientating arriving guests
  • Assisting guests to and from their rooms while handling all luggage and personal belongings
  • Picking up and delivering amenities, laundry, mail, parcels and other requested items
  • Providing ice
  • Giving directions and assisting with transportation needs
  • Perform Bell/Valet duties including parking cars, running errands, greeting and orientating guests.
  • To assist all departments as directed by the Front Desk Host and department managers. 
  • Communicate service and amenities of the hotel to guests and provide Concierge service as needed.  Maintain a fluent knowledge of local restaurants, special events, city attractions, and outdoor activities.
  • Respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner working to resolve conflicts and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Complete shift checklists and special projects as assigned.
  • To be available to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • To maintain cleanliness of all equipment used.
  • Be completely familiar with hotel emergency procedures, and provide, calm, reassuring assistance to guests and fellow employees in the event of an emergency.
  • To follow all company policies and procedures.
  • To immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions.
  • To maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times.
  • Follow all company safety standards, including proper equipment handling to avoid injury to yourself and others.
  • To attend all mandatory meetings as directed.
  • To perform other tasks, including cross-training, as directed.

Essential Experience/Aptitudes:
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
  • A minimum two years’ experience in a customer/guest service and/or public contact related job is desired.
  • Must have High school diploma or equivalent.
  • May be required to provide valid driver’s license required. Current DMV record must be free of any incidence of reckless driving or excessive speeding citations.

  • Must be punctual with regular and reliable attendance.

Essential Physical Abilities:
  • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, such as reaching, bending and stooping.
  • Stands, walks and runs moderate to long distances throughout shift. 
  • Ability to grasp, bend, and stoop; push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 75lbs.; and lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, boxes, and luggage.
  • Periodically required to work at a very fast pace, under pressure.
