Packaging Design Engineer Intern (Direct Placement for Client) SIGMA DESIGN has collaborated with a packaging and crating company seeking a Packaging Design Intern to join their facility in Tualatin, OR.

What is offered 401K, medical, dental and vision. 3-4 weeks of PTO 7 paid company holidays Bonuses are available and based on performance Salary : $24-26 / Hour Primary Function : As a Packaging Design Engineer Intern with us, you’ll learn and obtain experience in the fundamentals of packaging design and engineering, through hands-on training and onsite placement.
Throughout the internship, you will get intimately familiar with our client’s materials, tools and manufacturing process and receive training related to design standards and applicable software Your internship will last for about 3- 6 months, during which time you will rotate around the wide range of manufacturing, packing, and design teams.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities : Manufacturing and Operations Partaking in and learning about the manufacturing and assembly process Understanding TransPak’s material- and tool constraints from a manufacturing perspective Get familiar with products and quality assurance requirements Learning how to interpret and understand manufacturing documentation Partake in pack-on-site activities Design and Engineering Utilize available training materials and receiving 1-on-1 instruction in the use of CAD design tools Gain a comprehensive understanding of customer- and industry standards for crates and other packaging products Working with TransPak Engineers to learn how to design custom packaging products for a wide range of customer parts Create and maintain production documentation Learn How : to create manufacturing documentation for packaging designs.
to create and maintain cut lists using TransPak’s proprietary CrateMaker software Participate in Design Reviews Attend internal and external design reviews to ensure accuracy of sketches and cut-sheets, as well as manufacturability of designs Education and Experience : (Knowledge, skills, & abilities) High School or equivalent (GED) Must be enrolled or recently graduated from a Packaging Engineering Program Strong presentation skills Strong problem solving skills Good written and verbal communication skills Basic understanding of standard packaging design and development Able to use a computer and software applications such as but not limited to MS Office Suite, proprietary estimating software.
Demonstrate attention to detail, be deadline-driven, with the goal of continuous improvement in skills and abilities. Pass a post offer background check Work Environment : Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions.
Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation.
