Position Summary
Develop, administer and ensure compliance with all SQF (Safe Quality Food), HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points), and FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) systems, policies, programs and procedures at the local facility.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage, reassess, and ensure compliance with the HACCP plan, pre-requisite programs, and SQF programs.
- Schedule and maintain the sampling and testing program.
- Ensure compliance of all company Quality and Food Safety policies, including but not limited to, HACCP, SQF, and FSIS documentation compliance and PHIS updates.
- Serve as liaison between company and FSIS (Food Safety & Inspection Service).
- Administer FSIS required Food Safety Orientation Training and supplemental coaching of HACCP/SQF policy compliance for the location leadership team.
- Complete all required audits in collaboration including the following but not limited to, FDA (Food & Drug Administration), WDATCP (Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection), USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), SQF and vendors.
- Provide and ensure the correct labeling statements on our products to comply with applicable regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Food Science or related discipline
- 1 year of experience in Quality Assurance/Food Safety/Research in meat production environment
Preferred Qualifications
- SQF and/or HACCP certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of HACCP, SQF and USDA regulations
- Ability to build professional relationships with quality assurance team members and cross functional teams while facilitating a collaborative environment
- Proficient skills with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, present complex ideas concisely and clearly articulate ideas verbally and in writing
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines through prioritization of tasks
Environmental/Working Conditions
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
- Majority of work will be performed in a plant, laboratory, or office environment including areas of hot/cold temperatures, loud noise
Physical Requirements
- Majority of work will be performed in a plant, laboratory, or office environment including areas of hot/cold temperatures, loud noise with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.
