Job Description
Position: Data Entry Clerk
Reports To: Admin
FLSA status: Non-exempt
Summary: As data entry clerk, you will maintain database systems by entering new and updated information. You will follow appropriate policies and guidelines to mitigate overall financial and reputational risk exposures.
Key Functions
· Prepares source data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information; establishing entry priorities
· Processes customer and account source documents by reviewing data for deficiencies; resolving discrepancies by using standard procedures or returning incomplete documents to the team leader for resolution
· Enters customer and account data by inputting alphabetic and numeric information on keyboard or optical scanner according to screen format
· Maintains data entry requirements by following data program techniques and procedures
· Verifies entered customer and account data by reviewing, correcting, deleting, or reentering data; combining data from both systems when account information is incomplete; purging files to eliminate duplication of data
· Tests customer and account system changes and upgrades by inputting new data; reviewing output
· Secures information by completing data base backups
· Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
· Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
· Works with partners to ensure compliance with various industry requirements
· Any other tasks as assigned
Skills Required
· Proven experience as data entry clerk
· Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel etc.)
· Working knowledge of office equipment and computer hardware and peripheral devices
· Basic understanding of databases
· Good command of English both oral and written and customer service skills; bilingual a plus
· Strong deductive reasoning skills
· Takes calculated risks and learns from mistakes
· Speaks in a clear, poised and convincing manner
· Demonstrates accuracy with particular attention to detail in a work setting that requires effective time-management skills and strict adherence to deadlines
· Strong analytical skills
· Good business sense
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Typical office hours of 9-5 M-F., also hiring a part time data entry rep
