Overview
We are searching for a Drafter II for an architectural aluminum products and systems manufacturer in the construction industry in Harrisonburg, VA. The company is a leading provider of aluminum sheet, plate, and extrusions, as well as innovative architectural products, that advance the automotive, aerospace, commercial transportation, industrial, packaging, and building and construction markets. Responsibilities of the right candidate will include but are not limited to, reviewing architectural and structural drawings, specifications, design drawings, and sketches. Candidate must understand product usage and design for application and reviews with team leaders to ensure correct interpretations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews architectural and structural drawings, specifications, design drawings and sketches
- Understands product usage and design for application, and reviews with team leaders to ensure correct interpretations
- Uses computer-aided drafting software and established drafting standards to develop layouts, drawings, and designs that meet engineering specifications
- Reviews and understands specifications with minimal supervision.
- Understands project flow from Sales to Estimating to Technical Services
- Reads and interprets as sold quotes
- Prepares shop drawings for standard, modified standard and custom projects using established drafting standards, medium to large in size.
- Incorporates marked up corrections from internal and external customers with minimal supervision
- Can self-check standard, modified standard and custom projects, medium to large in size and or check in-house Drafter I or II using established drafting standards.
- Prepares die drawings for projects at customer request.
- Has knowledge of a variety of standard products and procedures
- Well-rounded knowledge of manufacturing, installation, and glazing processes
- Meets deadlines to support OTIF (On time in Full)
- Maintains Consistent Performance (Measured by yearly CIV/COV quality goal)
- Identifies problem areas/non-standard areas of project by reviewing architectural and structural drawings and be able to problem solve these areas.
Must-Have Skills
- At least 2-3 years of AutoCAD experience
- 3 years AAS in Drafting & Design and industry related experience
- Experience in Curtainwall and Storefront
- Experience in 3D AutoCAD, Revit, BIM
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel
