Position Overview
Under the direction of the Supervisor the NDT Master Tech, is responsible for following established policies. The NDT Technician Level 1-3 performs assignments requiring general use and application of concepts, practices and techniques for X-ray, FPI, and MPI inspection. Approximately 80% of time setting up and performing NDT operations, 20% maintaining records, equipment, and perform training of new NDT certified techs as needed.

Maintains certification records in accordance with industry and business requirements.Assures all training material is current and in compliance with all customer requirements and current industry standards.Creates, develops, and approves inspection procedures and techniques (Leader Standard Work) to meet customer and industry requirements.Establishes a presence as the NDT expert inspector, trainer, auditor and customer advocate in respective NDT discipline to assure consistent quality and specification compliance. Continuous validation regarding the effectiveness of the NDT program, systems and personnel skills via defined audits and production iteration activities.Single Point Accountable (SPA) for contract review efforts on NDT related customer and industry requirementsManages departmental materials and equipment to meet system and production
requirements.Mentors Level 3 successor and coaches NDT personnel to advance within the NDT discipline. Challenges and motivates NDT personnel through demonstrated leadership.Continuously assesses health of the business systems against customer and/or industry standards through an efficient and effective NDT internal audit/corrective and preventative action management system.Leads teams and develop relationships, both internally and externally, to achieve the necessary engagement, influence and customer connections (both internal and external) required.Leads with energy by consistently identifying and overcoming challenges and possessing a highly developed quantitative, as well as qualitative skill.Leader and teacher in Problem Solving and Preventive Corrective Action Principles - Proactive approach (to foresee problems rather than reacting after the event)Leads the implementation of new NDT technology within respective location and provide information to all plants by data sharing.Strong ability to multi-task in a demanding environment and to work independently with little to no guidance required.Demonstrates business acumen (financials, linkage of quality/NDT impact to financials, A3 thinking).Must possess practical understanding of manufacturing processes in order to objectively and independently analyze problems, communicate effectively and facilitate problem solving activities.Works with Plant Management to provide input on capital needs to meet current and future planned business requirement i.e. capacity, capability, productivity, technical advancement & expertise, etc.Drives standardized continuous improvement metrics across the NDT disciplinesThis list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded from time to time to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.
What you will need
Requires
a bachelor's degree in in engineering or related NDT discipline and current certification with ASNT/NAS 410 or other recognized NDT accreditation
in L3 certification or an associate’s degree in NDT plus three plus years of
relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment and ASNT/NAS 410 or
other recognized NDT accreditation in L3 certification. Relevant work experience is determined and
documented by the Level 3 responsible for this certification program. Expert in
understanding of non-destructive validation methodology (Visual, X-Ray,
Penetrant, etc.) Experienced and
proficient in understanding NADCAP requirements and knowledge in statistical
tools and techniques, APQP and measurement system analysis and application with
NDT. Experienced in coordination,
development and execution of corrective /preventative / systemic action and
process improvement activities.
Additional education, SQE, Six Sigma, APQP, SPC statistical
management. In lieu of degree requires
four plus (4 ) years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment
and ASNBT/NAS 410 or other recognized NDT accreditation in L3.
