Job Description
The Project Engineer will manage and / or support local engineering projects as directed by the Vice President of Operations. The Project Engineer will provide site support and work directly with contacts local to the project.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Develop project approval requests for capital expenditures according to company investment guidelines.
• Develop or support creation of key objectives for projects.
• Develop detailed project plans and schedules according to the goals and objectives for the project
• Identify any special requirements associated with the project and develop a test plan to validate compliance with such requirements.
• Obtain and review contractor bids and select suppliers according to the needs of the project
• Mange project costs according to the budget
• Coordinate and oversee technical aspects of projects
• Maintain accurate and accessible records of various details associated with projects.
• Develop procedures, as applicable, for the operation, upkeep and / or maintenance of newly installed equipment. The Project Engineer will also support the training activities of production and maintenance personnel as required.
• Prepare reports and updates for management and other project stakeholders in relation to the project’s budget, contractor activity and progress according to the project schedule.
• Work with EH&S technical experts to ensure project activities and outcomes comply with company policies and regulatory requirements. This includes obtaining applicable permits required for project execution.
Qualifications
- Education: BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical preferred).
- 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with formal project management experience.
- Hands on and effective project leader.
- Willingness to travel as required for installation and project startup as required.
- Experience in AUTOCAD or similar design software.
- Experience with electrical and control systems is helpful.
- Experience with extrusion is a plus
